Posted Jan 6/12 - No. 2 ranked Pflugerville posts 61-25 victory over McNeill to move to 28-0

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas- Pflugerville, the No. 2 team in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches/ Tex Preps Basketball Magazine state 5A poll, improved to 28-0 by rolling to a 61-25 district victory over McNeill HS at the Panther Gym Friday night. The win was propelled by double-doubles from senior forward Itiana Taylor (13-points, 12-rebounds) and junior forward Diana Omozee (10 points, 12 rebounds) and lifts P'ville to 4-0 in District 16-5A play.

Ten of the 11 Panthers who played scored against the Mavericks, now 16-11 overll and 0-6 in district action.

The Panthers led 15-5 after one quarter. After McNeill cut the lead to seven, 23-15 with 2:37 to go in the first half, the Panthers closed out the period with a 7-2 run to lead 30-17 at intermission. McNeil was limited to eight points in the second half.

Pflugerville had 12 steals, led by Omozee's four thefts, while the Mavericks had six. McNeill committed 23 turnovers.

Pflugerville returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 10 when it squares off against No. 9 ranked Georgetown in a District 16-5A showdown. Both teams are unbeaten in district play. That game takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Georgetown.

PFLUGERVILLE JV and FRESHMAN GOLD EARN WINS OVER McNEILL

The undefeated Pflugerville junior varsity posted a 46-11 win over McNeill Friday to move to 21-0 while the freshman Gold (A) squad earned a 44-16 victory.

The Panther JV team was led by sophomore post Makyndra Simmons who scored 13 points and sophomore forward Arianna Marks who had seven points. The P'ville freshmen improved to 17-1 as Alyssa Washington led the way with 21 points.

All Panthers teams will face their Georgetown counterparts on Tuesday, Jan. 10 in Georgetown with the JV playing at 6 p.m. proceeded by the freshman Gold 5:30 p.m. game.
