Posted Dec 18/10 - Pflugerville goes 2-1 at Rumble in the Bluff tourney with 72-38 win over St. Louis Saturday night; Enemkpali, Taylor named to All-Tournament Team
LAKE CHARLES, LA- Pflugerville held its opponent, St. Louis Catholic HS, scoreless for the first 10 minutes of the game en route to rolling to a 72-38 victory Saturday evening in the Panthers' final game at the Rumble in the Bluff Tournament.

The Panthers move to 13-3 with the easy victory, while St. Louis, located in Lake Charles, is now 11-3.

Pflugerville went 2-1 in the 26-team tournament which took place at three sites in Lake Charles. Friday night, the Panthers lost a hard-fought 46-44 decision to the nation's No. 4 ranked team, unfeated Westbury Christian (15-0) from Houston. Saturday morning, the Panthers posted an 86-40 win over Parkway (Bossier City, La.) HS.

Named to the Rumble in the Bluff All-Tournament Team from Pflugerville were senior post Nneka Enemkpali and junior forward Itiana Taylor. Against St. Louis, Enemkpali led all scorers with 11 points and added five rebounds in just 17 minutes of action. Taylor, playing similar minutes, finished with 10 points, four rebounds and a game-high six steals.

For the three-game tournament, Enemkpali collected 38 points (a 12.7 ppg average) with 21 rebounds (7.0 rebounds per game), four steals and two blocks. Taylor had 27 points (9.0 ppg), 15 rebounds and nine steals.

In the Pflugerville-St. Louis game, the Panthers led 19-0 before St. Louis scored its first points with six minutes to go in the second quarter. The Panthers shut out St. Louis in the first period (by a 15-0 edge) and extended their lead to 34-9 at intermission. In the first quarter, St. Louis was forced into seven turnovers and shot 0-for-11 from the floor. They finished the first half hitting just three of 25 field goal attempts.

Enemkpali and Taylor were joined by senior forward Deborah Roucloux in double-figure scoring, as Roucloux netted a season-high 10 points. Roucloux also pulled down a season-best seven rebounds. Senior forward Shoniece Yett added nine points, while senior guard Curtiesha Woods and sophomore guard Taliyah Brooks helped the balanced scoring attack with eight points each.

Pflugerville returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 21 in its final game before the Christmas break. The Panthers face Round Rock HS in District 16-5A competition at 7:30 p.m. at Round Rock. The Panthers stand 1-0 in the district after opening district action with a 74-19 victory over Stony Point on December 7.
