Capital City started out their tournament season with three consecutive wins in pool play at Washington State University. Playing with a short-squad of 10 players because of the State-Metro All Star Series in Oregon, it took all hands on deck for the Cap City pitching staff.

Posted Dec 4/13 - Black Sox go 4-0 in Pool Play; Grab Bye Heading in to Sunday!

The Sox came out on a mission in the sun on Saturday; facing the 2-0 Las Vegas Ducks in a big pool play match-up that would decide one of the top two seeds in bracket play. The game didn’t last long, as the Black Sox scored 14 runs (12 of them earned) in the first two innings. Roger Ingram Jr. made sure the Ducks were never in the game; pitching three innings, giving up one hit, and no runs. Cap City got multiple hit games from Evan Haberle (2-3, 3B, 3 RBI’s), Jack Bauer (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI’s), Garrett Myers (2-2, 2 RBI’s), Hunter Spriggs (2-2, 2 RBI’s), and Jordan Barchus (2-2, 2B, RBI). The 15-0 win pushed the Sox to 3-0 in pool play, and put them in a great position going into the 4th game of the weekend.

Capital City started the season off on the right foot; winning both games in pool play on Friday. First they held off the OC Heat (who eventually finished in 3rd place for the weekend); then they finally got the offense going in game two to take a shortened game from the SC Bandits of California, 15-2.

Posted Nov 5/13 - Capital City Wins First Two at OSU Showcase!

Capital City started off the OSU showcase with a 12-1 win in six innings against Showtime Jr. Prep. Nychal Gritz led Cap City on the mound with his five inning performance; giving up two hits, no earned runs, and struck out three. At the plate the Black Sox took advantage of six Showtime errors, and scored five runs in the fourth to put the game away. Evan Haberle, and Jesse Hilyard had two RBI's each, and Roger Ingram Jr. had two hits to lead the offense.

Posted Nov 5/13 - Two Capital City Players Make Commitments to Top NWAACC Program!

Garrett Myers and Jordan Barchus have both recently accepted scholarship offers to play at Lower Columbia Community College of the NWAACC! Jordan will be playing SS for the Red Devils this coming year, and Garrett will be playing CF. Lower Columbia is well known as one of the best junior college schools in Oregon/Washington; sending 14 sophomores to 4-year schools this past year, including five to D-1 schools. Congratulations to Jordan and Garrett on their accomplishment!

Posted Oct 30/13 - Capital City Takes Double Header to Start Winter!

Capital City took both games of a double header this past weekend in Vancouver, WA. The first game was a 9-inning contest against Showtime College Prep. In a game filled with walks and errors, Cap City found themselves tied 3-3 going into the 9th. Nate Christophersen led off the inning with his third hit of the game, and that was followed up by an RBI double to left center field from Jack Bauer, to take the 4-3 lead. Hunter Spriggs scored Bauer later in the inning with a ground ball to the right side to make it 5-3. Christophersen came in and closed the door for the save in the bottom half.

Capital City has announced that it will be taking on a summer team in the summer of 2014(next summer). We will be playing local games, and tournaments... as well as traveling to a few national tournaments that we have been asked to attend. Posted May 24/13 - Capital City Ends Season with Four-Win Day!

It was an early morning for Capital City having to play at 8AM against Dixie of Utah; and it would turn out to be a long day, playing four games and winning all of them to claim the championship of the Hurricane Utah Presidents Day tournament. The Black Sox won games 2-0, 3-1, 8-6, and 5-3 to take the title home. The wins moved them to 7-1 on the tournament, and 23-7-1 for the winter season!

The Black Sox opened the Vegas tournament with a win over the Riverton Silverwolves from Utah 9-1. They followed that up with a combined no-hitter from Jared Bell and Clayton Gelfand in a win over PHD from Minnesota in the night-cap.

Capital City is proud to announce that Clayton Gelfand, Travis Sanders, Jared Bell and Jordan Barchus were all invited to attend the USSSA All-American game in Kissamee Florida in August. Earlier in the Winter David Irvine and Gelfand attended the Under Armour All-American game in Phoenix! Great work by the players that were invited!

David Irvine hit a HR to lead off the game, and Capital City cruised from there. Beating the San Jose Red Sox 8-0 and Bret's Muckdogs 15-0. The wins moved them to 2-0 in pool play and gave them the #1 seed for Sunday.

You could clearly tell that Capital City had very few at-bats in the early Winter. That didn't stop them from beating the Chandler Rangers 11-3 in the opener to move to 1-0 in pool play. Jon Stong went 2-4 with a 2-RBI double to pace the offense, and Jared Bell got the win on the mound. Throwing five innings; giving up two earned runs while striking out seven.
