Tyler Anselmi scored on a penalty kick to even the match 1-1 at halftime. Both teams had multiple scoring opportunities but were unable to convert. Andrew Tang and Geoffrey Orihel gave the Bobcats a couple of scoring opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net.

The game opened up a bit more in the second half with the Elsik Rams having multiple corner kicks opportunities.  Early in the second half, the Bobcats suffered a couple of injuries and were unable to sustain their momentum.  Midway through the second period,  Elsik finally converted two quick goals to make the score 3-1.  Elsik put the match out of reach with two late goals to make the final score 5-1.

Posted Apr 1/11 - Bobcats Eliminated from Playoffs with a 1-0 loss.
The Cy Fair Bobcats suffered a tough loss 1-0 to Seven Lakes in a 5A Region III area playoff game. Seven Lakes utilized their home field advantage playing in front of a large home fan base as well as playing on their familiar artificial turf.  However, the Bobcats came out strong the first five minutes and looked to overcome the Spartans home field advantage.   Cy Fair had a couple of early scoring opportunities that looked promising but they failed to convert with shots going just wide of the goal.  The Bobcats had more than a handful of shots on goal in the first half but just couldn't find the back of the net.  Both teams went into halftime with a 0-0 draw.

Cy Fair opened the second half going against the wind and Seven Lakes made some halftime adjustments which limited Cy Fair's offensive threats.  Seven Lakes had several long throw ins, free kicks and corner kicks which were nicely defended by Senior Goalkeeper Sam Potter and the Bobcat defense.  However, with 14 minutes to play, the Spartans had two consecutive corner kicks and they finally netted a goal from a back post header to go up 1-0.  Cy Fair frantically pushed their offense forward but struggled to move the ball in scoring position and the Spartans move onto the Regional quarterfinals with a 1-0 win.

Cy Fair ended their championship season with an overall 17-4-5 record and were crowned the District 17-5a Champions with a 10-1-2 record.  In addition, Cy Fair were winners of the Aldine Tournament and won their first playoff game since 1995.

Well done team! BFND.

Posted Mar 29/11 - Playoff Run Continues as Bobcats Defeat Nimitz 2-1
In a tightly contested and entertaining match, Cy Fair came from behind to edge Nimitz 2-1 in the 1st round of the Region III 5A playoffs at the Berry Center.  Cy Fair advances to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1995 and will travel to Seven Lakes on Friday April 1@ 7:30 pm.

Playing before an enthusiastic crowd and sporting newly trimmed haircuts, the Bobcats came out strong the first ten minutes of the match but were unable to produce any serious scoring opportunities. The Nimitz Cougars withheld Cy Fair's initial surge and took the momentum away from the Bobcats as they came close on a couple of occasions to netting the first goal. Senior Goalkeeper Sam Potter came up with some crucial saves to keep the match scoreless. The Bobcats struggled to keep possession of the ball but held the Cougars offense in check for most of the half.  It appeared both teams would enter the locker room with a 0-0 score but Nimitz continued to press and scored with just 2 minutes remaining to take a 1-0 lead.

Cy Fair found a rhythm in the second half with some good ball movement and connecting on some long passes. With 24 minutes remaining, Andrew Tang finally got Cy Fair on the scoreboard as he set up on the back post and knocked a rebound to even the score at 1-1. Both teams hunkered down defensively limiting any easy scoring opportunities. Carlos Mendoza finally broke free down the left sidelines and was tackled from behind setting up a free kick from 30 yards out. Tyler Anselmi's service was on target and Luis Gonzalez leaped high to redirect the ball past the goal keeper to put the Bobcats up 2-1 with ten minutes remaining.

Nimitz continued to push their offense forward but the Bobcats backline of Tony DeBauche, Luis Gonzalez, Clark Kauffman and Roder Cardona continuously cleared balls upfield and out of harms way to secure the Bobcats 2-1 victory.

The Bobcats will have a few days to prepare for their next matchup against Seven Lakes who advanced on a 3-2 overtime win over Bellaire.  For complete UIL soccer playoff results, please visit UIL 5A Playoff Brackets

Posted Mar 25/11 - Cy Fair Completes Championship Season with 2-1 over Cy Creek
The Cy Fair Bobcats finished their district play with a 2-1 win over Cy Creek.  The night belonged to the Bobcat Senior Class as they were honored for their high school accomplishments which included the 2011 District 17 5A trophy presentation prior to tonight's match. The Bobcats clinched the district title earlier this week and finished with a league leading 32 points and a 10-1-2 overall record. Langham Creek, Cy Falls and Cy Lakes rounded out the top four teams and will advance to the Boys 5A Playoffs next week.

The Bobcats starting line-up included all ten seniors which led the charge against their long time rival, Cy Creek Cougars. While both teams had cemented their playoff fate prior to tonight's game, the players played for pride in a very competitive game.  Cy Fair struggled to find a rhythm early in the match as they shuffled their normal playing positions. Carlos Mendoza got the Bobcats on the scoreboard first with a left footed free kick from 30 yards out.  Cy Fair went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Cy Fair continued to rotate players and substituted early and often in the second half to keep the players fresh and injury free.  Cy Creek continued to battle hard and scored the equalizing goal at the eighteen minute mark for a 1-1 score.  The Bobcats took the lead for good as Carlos Mendoza scored his second goal of the game off an assist from Xavier Jimenez to make the score 2-1.  With the win at hand, Cy Fair was content to sit back in a defensive mode and manage the final minutes with a 2-1 win.

The Bobcats celebrated their season's accomplishments after the game and will now turn their focus to next week's first round playoff game.  Cy Fair will host Nimitz HS on Tues, March 29 at 7:30 pm at the Berry Center. The boys 5A playoff matchups can be found in the LINKS tab.

Posted Mar 11/11 - Cy Fair Ties Langham Creek to Remain in First Place
It was deja vu all over again for the Cy Fair Bobcats. Just like their only other match at the Berry Center two weeks ago, the Bobcats had a narrow lead only to have their opponent score the equalizer with five minutes left in the match. Tonight it was Langham Creek coming from behind to even the score at 2-2.

The match was a see-saw battle with both teams controlling parts of the game only to see the momentum shift to the other team.  Both teams played very scrappy, challenged for every ball possession and neither team conceded easy scoring opportunities.  The Lobos got on the scoreboard first as the Bobcats failed to clear the ball from a set play. The ball eventually was lobbed into the corner of the net to make the score 1-0.  The Bobcats stormed back five minutes later when the Lobo's goalkeeper spilled the ball and Andrew Tang promptly banged the ball in to make the score 1-1 at halftime.

Cy Fair had better ball possession to start the second half.  At the 20 minute mark,  Andrew Tang was able to weave his way down the right side and cross the ball squarely infront of the goal to Carlos Mendoza who knocked it in to make it 2-1.  Cy Fair held off several scoring opportunities as Fransesco Lo Sauro had four saves on the night.  With five minutes remaining in the game, the Lobos scored the tying goal for close in to make the final score 2-2.

A win tonight would have clinched the District 17-5a Championship for Cy Fair but the Bobcats continue to hold a five point lead over second place Langham Creek (6-2-3).  Cy Fair (8-1-2) has two remaining district games and only needs one point to secure the District Championship for the first time since 2006.  The Bobcats have Spring Break to rest and then will travel to Cy Springs on Tues Mar 22. The final game of the season will be Fri Mar 25 as the Bobcats host Cy Creek on Senior Night.

Posted Mar 8/11 - Cy Fair Cruises to 5-0 Win
Senior Fowards Carlos Mendoza and Xavier Jimenez scored two goals each to lead the Bobcats to a decisive 5-0 win over Jersey Village. Cy Fair remains on top of the District 17-5A standings with a 8-1-1 record (25 points)  and clinched a playoff berth with three games remaining in district play.

Mendoza got the Bobcats on the scoreboard with a free kick from just outside the eighteen that slid past the Jersey Village wall of defenders and tucked neatly into the left corner of the goal. Mendoza scored again with five minutes left in the first half as he and Jimenez found themselves in a two on one situation.  Jimenez carried the ball down the left sidelines and crossed it to a streaking Mendoza who took dead aim to the back of the net. Cy Fair went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

The Bobcats continued their scoring onslaught with three more goals in the second half.  Xavier Jimenez scored off a short corner assist from Andrew Tang.  Tyler Anselmi made the score 4-0 as he and Jimenez exchanged several passes off a free kick. Cy Fair continued to apply offensive pressure with Jimenez scoring his second goal with 8 minutes to go to make the final score 5-0.

With an unusually humid and damp night, the Bobcats substituted freely throughout the game and got some aggressive play from Sergio Gudino, Matt Snyder, Johan Sagustume, Tony Perez and Geoffrey Orihel. Cy Fair recorded their second consecutive shut out with very steady defensive play from Tony DeBauche, Luis Gonzales, Roder Cardona and Clark Kauffman.  Sophomore Francesco Lo Sauro had five saves in goal in his second start of the season.

Posted Mar 4/11 - Cy Fair Sinks Cy Ridge 2-0
Playing their second game in 48 hours, the Cy Fair Bobcats overcame fatigue and a shortened bench to outlast Cy Ridge 2-0.  The Bobcats lead the league in scoring but struggled throughout the match to find their usual offensive consistency and firepower.  Midway through the first half, Tyler Anselmi got the Bobcats rolling with a free kick from 45 yards out that sailed into the upper corner of the net. Cy Fair led at halftime 1-0.

With a 1-0 lead, the Bobcats relied on their strong team defense to limit the Rams scoring opportunities in the second half.  Cy Ridge struggled to penetrate the Bobcats back line and midfielders and forwards provided defensive support by trackng back and plugging the passing lanes.  With 18 minutes left in the game, Freshman Adonis Pinto scored his first goal of the season from inside the eighteen to make the score 2-0.  Despite a flurry of yellow cards in the final minutes, the Bobcats held the Rams scoreless for a 2-0 win.

Cy Fair continues to lead District 17-5A with a 7-1-1 record while Cy Ridge falls to 2-6-1.  The Bobcats have two games next week prior to Spring Break.  Cy Fair will host Jersey Village on Tuesday and then travel to the Berry Center on Friday for a matchup against Langham Creek.

Carlos Mendoza's three goals lifted Cy Fair to a 3-2 victory over Cy Falls. The Bobcats pushed their record to 6-1-1 while Cy Falls fell to 4-2-2 in District 17-5A play.

Cy Fair got on the scoreboard first as Xavier Jiminez weaved his way past two defenders and crossed a perfectly placed ball to Mendoza who tapped it in to make the score 1-0. Just seven minutes later, the Bobcats scored again off a set piece. This time, Mendoza ripped a header off of a service from Junior Tyler Anselmi for a 2-0 score.  Cy Falls pushed the ball upfield and converted on a set piece to tighten the match 2-1 going into halftime.

Mendoza continued his torrid scoring pace in the second half. The Senior forward worked his way into a one on one situation and flicked the ball past a hard charging goalkeeper to expand the lead to 3-1. However, Cy Falls continued to battle and made things interesting with another goal with just eight minutes left to play to tighten the score again.  Led by a strong back line, Cy Fair controlled the final minutes of the game solidifying a 3-2 win. Posted Feb 25/11 - Cy Fair and Cy Lakes settle to 1-1 tie.
Cy Fair was on the verge of getting back into the win column tonight but Cy Lakes scored the tying goal with four minutes left to make the final score 1-1. The match was scoreless in the first half with both teams unable to convert their scoring opportunities.  Sam Potter came up with some clutch saves on what looked to be sure-thing goals.

The Bobcats started the second half with improved ball handling and some well played passing combinations which led to consecutive scoring opportunities.  Xavier Jiminez found himself unmarked inside the eighteen but his left footed volley shot went high over the crossbar.  A few possessions later, Jiminez got himself into scoring position again but had to battle a hard charging goalkeeper. The Spartan goalkeeper was able to get a hand on the ball but ultimately Jiminez was able to knock the ball free and poke it across the goal line for a 1-0 lead.

Cy Fair contolled the tempo for most of the second half until Cy Lakes made a last ditch effort with an aggressive offensive attack.  The Spartans worked the ball inside the eighteen and the ball bounced several times before a Cy Lakes player was able to get to clean shot directly to the back of the net. Cy Fair is 5-1-1 in district play while Cy Lakes improved their record to 2-1-4.

Cy Fair (5-1-1) will next play Cy Falls in a rare Wednesday matchup.

The Wildcats (2-3-1) got off to a fast start as the netted their first goal only four minutes into the game off a corner kick.  A Cy Woods player managed to brake free on the back post and headed the ball sharply into the goal to give the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead. The Bobcats had an opportunity to even the score with a penalty kick in the 28th minute but Carlos Mendoza's shot hit the side post and Cy Woods was able to clear the ball out of harms way. Cy Fair came out in the second half with renewed energy but Woods was able to weather the scoring threats as both teams played with heightened enthusiasm and pace. Cy Woods also had their offensive chances but Sam Potter had two diving saves to keep the Bobcats within striking distance.

The match went back and forth with both teams struggling to keep ball possession and playing a very physical brand of soccer well into the second half.
