Posted Jul 27/10 - Spurs lose 11-8 to Richmond

It was an interesting night that started off well with the Spurs scoring 3 runs in the first inning thanks to Jeff Godard whose hit scored Kyle and Nick ,and then a single by Trevor to score Jeff.  The fans thought the Spurs were on their way to win number 10.  But Richmond would not give up as they matched the Spurs bats to score 5 runs of their own over 4 innings.  In the 4th inning,  Jake and Noah were on base when Kristjan hit a double to score 2 runs and then came in on a single from Thomas.   In the top of the 5th, Jeff hit a nice long triple to centrefield and was then hit home by a Connor Folick single.   Once again Richmond came back, scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th.

The Cloverdale Spurs left Victoria with their undefeated regular season intact as they beat Victoria Black 7-0 in the first of two games on Sunday and then beat Victoria Red 14-1.  The first game was highlighted by a 2 run homer by Reese Frey, and two solo homers by Kyle Starinieri and Nick Laflamme.  The Victoria Black team kept the Spurs run production lower than what could have been as the Spurs stranded 10 baserunners throughout the 7 innings played.  Jake and Reese pitched great innings while the Spurs defence kept Victoria off the score board.

The Cloverdale Spurs took their summerball league record to 7 wins and no losses with a 5 -1 victory over White Rock on Thursday night.   The White Rock team (especially pitching) held the Spurs scoreless for 4 innings as the Spurs stranded several runners each of the four innings.  Nick Laflamme pitched the first 5 1/3  innings and kept White Rock at bay.  Jeff Godard got things started once again with a double in the bottom of the fifth.  Brent Reston followed with a bunt that brought Jeff home and Brent was safe at first.  Then Jake hit a single that brought Brent home.   Jake also scored which made the score 3-0 going into the 6th.  The Spurs kept White Rock off the scoreboard in the sixth and scored two more runs to make it 5-0.    White Rock managed to score a run in the top of the seventh but that was all they could muster as Kristjan came in to pitch the 1 and 2/3 innings.

Posted Jul 18/10 - Spurs lose to Abby in final.

Well Spurs fans. The streak has ended.  The Cloverdale Spurs suffered their first loss of the summerball season to a good Abbotsford team that was on a mission to finally beat the Spurs. With great pitching from their ace pitcher, Jordan,  the Abbotsford Angels silenced the Spurs bats while capitalizing on a couple of key hits to beat the Spurs 5 - 1 in the championship final at the Valley of Champions tournament. Kyle started at pitcher and was relieved by Kristjan.  Player of the game was Reese Frey.   On a positive note, the Spurs allowed only 8 runs during the whole tournament. The bats will be back!

The Spurs won their 3rd game of the tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 10-2 win against the Coquitlam Reds.  Cloverdale spotted Coquitlam 2 runs early in the game and then tied it in the next inning.  The Spurs bats woke up as they scored two more in the second inning and then 6 more in the next 2 innings.  A nice left field long ball resulting in a double by Noah Licas was selected as the bat of the game. Posted Jul 15/10 - Cloverdale defeats Chilliwack 12-5

The Cloverdale Spurs continued their winning ways on Tuesday night with a 12-5 win over Chilliwack in their home park. Yours truly was not there to personally witness their great play but here is what my sources tell me.  Starting pitcher was Jake Bracey who was relieved be Brent Reston, then Jeff Godard with Reese Frey brought in for the close. (looks like Coach Pat used this game to tune-up some more pitchers for the weekend. Considering that there were only 5 runs scored against the Spurs in 7 innings, the pitching and the defence had to have been stellar once again.  Several Spurs had some great hits deep into a big outfield, contributing to another double-digit game full of runs. According to my sources, apparently this was the best game that Chilliwack played to date.   The Spurs are now 5-0 in league play.

Posted Jul 12/10 - Ridge Meadows unable to stop Spurs juggernaut.

The Spurs magic continues.  Behind strong pitching of starter Nick Laflamme, then Jeff Godard and finishing with Kristjan Storrie, the Spurs rolled to a 13-1 victory over Ridge Meadows in seven innings.  Jeff also took matters into his own hands with a 5th inning, 3 run homer! The rest of the Spurs runs came once again from the great hitting of the Spurs team. And the stellar defense kept the opposition at bay for most of the game, allowing only 1 run (a homer) in the 6th inning.  In the last 4 games, the Spurs have allowed only 8 runs.    On Tuesday, the Spurs hit the road once again with a visit to Chilliwack.   Game time 6pm.

Posted Jul 11/10 - Spurs keep rollin', win against Ladner

The Cloverdale Spurs notched another convincing win on Sunday with a 13-3 victory over the Ladner Red Sox in 5 innings of play. Powered by the mighty bat of Nick Laflamme who blasted two home runs, the Spurs proved once again that their sticks are as deadly as their gloves and arms.  Kyle Starinieri also crushed a ball over the centre field fence (and batting cage) for the third Spurs home run of the game. But it wasn't just the home runs, the entire Spurs line-up can hit. As proven by the multiple singles and doubles that drove in the remaining runs.
