Posted Aug 6/12 - Angels win silver at Provincials.

On a hot, sunny day in Richmond,  the Angels took a roller coast ride of emotion, treating their fans to an excellent day of baseball.  Playing the semi-final game against Cloverdale Black, the Angels knew they had to bring their "A" game.  Jordan pitched masterfully, throwing a 93 pitch complete game that kept Cloverdale's batters guessing and off the base pads for most of the game. On the offensive side, although Abbotsford's bats were also quiet for most of the game, they capitalized on the base-runners that they did put on and managed to eek out a 3-2 victory in 7 innings.

The Abbotsford Angels quest for the provincial championship began on Thursday with two games at Blundell Park in Richmond.  In game one, the Angels faced a scrappy Cloverdale Red team who played well against the Angels during a couple of regular season games.  Jonah started on the mound and pitched well. He was relieved by Austen late in the game.  Abbotsford's bats weren't as hot as they would have liked but it was enough to power them to victory.  As always, their defense was difficult to score against.  Final score, Angels 4, Cloverdale 1.

Posted Jul 16/12 - Angels win for the 32nd time

It had been 3 months since the Angels faced White Rock.  This time it was on White Rock's home turf.  In April, the Angels handed White Rock back to back losses in their double-header at Townline. This time the result was the same.  With Liam starting off on the mound, the teams traded runs in the first inning. White Rock went up 3-2 in the second but Abbotsford roared back.  Liam was relieved by Jordan who calmly pitched effectively for the remainder of the game.  Sheldon continued his hot streak at bat with another nice triple and the Angels put together a string of hits that led to a 7-3 victory.

Posted Jun 29/12 - Angels drop first tourney game to Vancouver

It seems that the Angels and Vancouver Mounties are destined to always play each other in the rain. For the 3rd time, the two teams faced off in somewhat wet conditions (not as bad as the downpour in first first two games in Richmond or Newton) Hopefully the same won't happen for the July 11 and July 28 regular season games!    At the Annual Cloverdale CanAM cup tournament, the Angels started well, matching Vancouver run for run and even taking a 3-2 lead into the top of the 4th due to a nice triple from Austen. With Vancouver at bat, the Angels made some costly fielding errors that allowed Vancouver to score 4 runs.  The Angels were unable to score any runs in the bottom of the 4th.  The fifth inning was the last inning played due to time limits.  Vancouver padded to their lead with 3 more runs, once again due primarily to fielding errors.  Going into the bottom of the fifth, the Angels trailed 9-3.   Noah led off with a nice single.  Liam also got on base as did Cade.  Tanner hit a nice ball to score Liam and Cade however was thrown out on 2nd trying to stretch it to a double. The Angels managed to score 3 in that inning but alas, that was all they could muster.   Keaton and Jonah pitched well. Especially considering that they are pitching from a further distance (60ft).  Final score Angels 6, Vancouver 9.

Posted Jun 21/12 - Angels come from behind to win against Tri-City.
In a game that had all the drama and build up of a playoff game, your Abbotsford Angels proved once again that they can overcome challenges and be victorious.  The momentum shift began with an outstanding, high fly ball, on the run catch in left field by Jereymi in the bottom of the 6th inning. After that catch, the Angels closed out the inning. In the top of the seventh,  Austen hit up the middle and was able to beat the throw to first to become our first base runner.   This was followed by a walk to Tanner, putting runners on first and second.  Jeremyi was next up.  He hit an absolute "bomb" over the left-field fence.  A three run homer to put the Angels in the lead.  The Angels took the lead into the bottom of the seventh and  proceeded to shut down the Tri-City batters with 3 consecutive outs.  The pitching duo of Austen and Keaton were awesome.  Final score Angels 7, Tri-City 6.
