Our regular season came to an end against the Cloverdale team. The Dodger coaching staff used this game as an oppurtunity to sit some of our starters and get as many pitchers into the game even if some of our pitchers saw limited or no action throughout the season.
A good weekend outing for the Dodgers. After a 10-0 win over Kelowna the Dodgers went into Kamloops and split wins against the River Dogs. Overall the coaches were pleased with the teams weekend performance.
As of 9:20 am, the game that was scheduled for 9:00 has NOT been rescheduled for 11:00. The tournament organizer advises that the weather is improving in Cloverdale and that the regular schedule will resume. That means our game set for 3:00 is going ahead, at least for now.

Although today's weather isn't the best, tomorrow doesn't look much better and there's a forecast for flurries midday Sunday. Since Aldergrove Minor Baseball hasn't supplied any snowshoes, we've decided that the Tryout scheduled for today is a go. Layer up and bundle up. See you on the field 'warmed' up by noon.
As previously announced, the final weekend of the tryouts for the AAA and AA squads (Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th) is by invitation only. This is to allow the coaching staffs to spend more time assessing the players that are 'on the bubble' as between the AAA and AA teams and as between the AA and A tiers of the bantam division. The decisions made on who to invite were extremely difficult and, in most cases, the decision was based primarily on where the player would get the most playing time and opportunity for development. Questions or concerns regarding the process or decisions should be directed to the Bantam Coordinator at: pangean1@gmail.com.

The tryouts will be spread out over 6 days in February to allow for weather cancellations and to allow the greatest number of potential players to participate. The actual dates of the tryouts are as follows:
The weather cooperated for the most part as the Langley-Aldergrove Dodgers hopefuls took the field this past weekend. Fifty one players came out for one or both tryouts sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Fifteen coaches and parents assisted with running the various stations and recording the evaluations. The Dodger coaches and AMBA are thrilled with the response and the dedication of the players and the patience and commitment of the parents.
Players interested in trying out for the Bantam AA or Bantam AAA squads are reminded that they need to be registered before taking the field for the next tryout on February 18th. Registration information, including the amounts and documents required, is described in the News Item below.

Over the four weeks the HPI clinics ran, the Bantam AA and Bantam AAA coaching staffs were able to see more than 45 players in action, many of whom hadn't previously played for AMBA, while at the same time providing skill development and agility training. The organizers are gratified by the response to the clinics and excited about the prospects for the 2012 Bantam program.
For those players intending to try out for the Bantam AAA or AA teams, the first on field practice and evaluation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (plenty of time to get home before Superbowl kickoff). The practice will be held on Devon's Diamond at Aldergrove Athletic Park and in the AAP batting cages.
The batting cage sessions at the indoor North Langley batting cage will resume on Saturday, January 7th and will continue for the next few weeks. Sessional instructors Orville Germaine, Kelvin Hewer, and Darren Rock will again be handling the coaching duties. These sessions are intended for those bantam-aged players who intend to try out for the Bantam AAA and Bantam AA Dodgers for 2012. Session times available are 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Players interested in attending the batting cage sessions will need to confirm their attendance in advance and have a time slot allocated to them.
