The UFTA has a five year plan to grow from a semi-pro league into a professional football league. This plan is based on sound business principles and concepts.

Every year minor league, semi pro, and indoor football leagues begin operation with a schedule and a finite number of teams. Do the leagues get stronger during the season? Absolutely not!! Teams fold up, some teams do not show up for games, and teams have to scramble for games to fill their schedules. Are teams better off financially at the end of the season. Absolutely not!!!! Bounced checks and unpaid bills are common occurrences. Well, despite these results, teams and leagues keep doing the same thing over and over. How would you like to join a League that will get stronger every day, especially financially?
The League will not divide teams into divisions. All teams will compete in a single division-at-large. Teams will be put their own schedules together as if they are independent teams. Teams may play teams in other leagues or associations.
The League will organize and operate league owned teams until we can find owners for these teams.
Teams may pay players.
The UFTA will use an expanded season. The UFTA regular season will begin on April 4, 2009. Teams can join the league as late as October 1 and still be eligible for the playoffs. Our playoffs will begin November 7, 2009 involving the top 32 teams that will be selected on November 1, 2009. The Championship game will be played on December 12, 2009.
The idea is to play approximately 16 to 20 games over a ten month expanded season. This gives us a lot of open dates to select the best time and location to play games. We will add teams to the league as the season progresses.
