2009 summer season 9-4-1
2009 summer playoffs 1-1-0
2009 fall season 3-1-0
2009 fall playoffs 0-0-0
The Showboats just completed there first seanson. We had a rocky start going 0-2 in our first 2 games. Then got on the board with a couple W's. We then hit a couple speed bumps in the road with a lose then a tie. Showboats regrouped and finished strong winning 7 of there last 8 and entering the playoffs as the #2 seed. Showboats after a bye then won conviencingly 16 to 4 against a strong 3 seed in the hawks. Champinship sunday against the leagues defending champs, Showboats played a tough game but came up a little short losing 7-5. After one season the showboats have added a couple new guys to help win a championship. Which was huge after losing a key player on the Showboats roster in Brandon Graff. The Showboats will be a strong team for years to come and look to contend for a championship every season.
MVP and Cy Young of the 2009 summer season
MVP-Joe Campo lead the team with a .528 batting average as our lead off guy. He also led in hits, runs, and on base percentage. Joe got on and set the tone for every game and was a big part of our wins. Joe also play solid defensively playing a good shortstop and a better catcher.
Cy Young-Steve Thurston,We were not able to keep stats for pitching every game but steve day in and day out gave us solid starts on the mound. Steve gave the Showboats a chance to win every game he pitched. Steve worked fast and kept his defense in the game all season.
Week 1 vs Raptors W(12-2)
In the Showboats first game of the season the offense was consistent. They scored at least 1 run in 6 of the 7 innings. With only 8 players in the line up each person had at least one hit. Tyler and Steve Thurston both went 2 for 4 with Steve adding 3 RBI's. Mike Seerup was 2 for 3 scoring 2 runs and had 2 RBI's. Joe Campo led the way going 4 for 5 with a couple of doubles and 5 RBI's. Steve Thurston threw a gem. He only gave up 7 hits and 2 earned runs with only 8 defenders. Steve also struck out 11 and only walked 1.
Week 2 vs Spartans W(21-0)
The Showboats continued swinging the sticks in week 2. After the first batter got out, The showboats had 19 batters in a row reach base by either a hit or walk.Out of those 19 hitters the Showboats managed to push across 16 of them jumping out to an early lead.Their bats went silent the next two inning, but then put up 5 more in the 4th to finish the 21 to 0 routing.A lot of big games offensively Tyler Thurston was 2 for 3, 3 runs scored and added a RBI. Joe Campo was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI's. Mike Campo was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and his 3 RBI's coming on the Showboats first homerun of the year.Adam Kunkel was also 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored making the 2,3,4,and 5 hitters 9 for 13 with 12 runs scored and 6 runs batted in. Offense didnt stop there 7,8,9 hitters continued the slugging. Steve Thurston was 4 for 4 scored a run and drove in 3 more. Bryce Turston was 3 for 4 scored a run and drove in 2 and in the 9 hole if you had Nick Kilby as your fantasy sleeper this week he cashed in for you going 3 for 3 scored a run and drove in 1. Steve Thurston also did his thing on the mound. Pitching 5 shutout innings, only giving up one hit and one walk to earn him the win.
Week 3 vs Mustangs L(12-7)
In week 3 the Showboats bats silenced a little bit, only scoring 1 run in the first 7 inning. The Showboats were down 12 to 1 going in to the bottom of the 8th due to sloppy defense by Mike Campo dropping a fly ball in left center and Mike Seerup just not having his stuff this day. The showboats managed to fight back scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th capped of by a big bases clearing double by Bryce Thurston. Going in the the 9th inning down 12 to 7 the Showboats got the first 2 on but just couldnt manage to get things going after that. Bryce and Tyler Thurston both went 2 for 5 combing for 4 RBI's. Mike Campo was the only other hitter to have a multi-hit game going 2 for 4. Joe Campo pitched a solid 6 inning giving up 5 runs 2 which were earned. He only gave up six hits and struck out 7. Mike Seerup finally looked human on the bump struggling with control and not getting many swings and misses like he usually does. We look for Mike to bounce back his next outting. Big Eric Simpson gave the Showboats a chance in the 9th by striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced setting them down in order, to keep the score at 12 to 7.
Week 4 vs Raptors W(32-1)
The Showboats bounced back in a big way after their first lose of the season scoring 32 runs in 4 innings. As a team the Showboats went 28 for 46 for a team batting average of .609, Out of the 11 hitters 9 of them had multi- hit games, 6 of them had a multi-RBI day, and 10 of them scored at least 2 runs. Tyler Thurston led the Showboats going 5 for 5 scoring 4 runs and drove in 3. Bryce Thurston was 3 for 4 scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Mike Seerup's bat came alive as he drove the ball deep a couple times going 4 for 5 scoring 4 runs. Adam Kunkel and Mike Campo both had 5 RBI's and both hit a homerun. John Kapu made his Showboats debut a big one going 3 for 4 scoring 2 runs and adding 4 RBI's. Eric Simpson, Joe Campo, and Nick Kilby all had two hit days and combined for 9 runs scored. Adam Brown had a tough day at the plate his first 3 at bats but shook it of and laced a ball to left center for 2 RBI's. Nick Kilby made his Showboats debut on the mound tossing 3 strong innings only giving up 2 hits and striking out 2 to get the win. Bryce Thurston also made his Showboats debut on the mound as the knunkleballer slammed the door shut after shaking of the rust, giving up a couple hits and a run he struck out the side to cap the Showboats big win
