Bracket play pitted the girls against this year’s most fierce rival, Evolve, another Boo Williams team based out of Suffolk. In 5 previous meetings the Tide held a 3-2 advantage in victories. The girls came out strong opening an 11-3 lead in the early going. Victory was never in doubt as the girls cruise to a 42-24 win and a spot in the championship game. On a sour note, the Red Tide’s leading scorer, Jah’keria Bagby, went down with a twisted ankle midway through the third quarter and did not return.
In the Championship game against the Windsor Stars, Jah’keria started but it was easy to see that she was in serious pain as the Red Tide fell behind 7-1 and 11-4. Jah’keria had to leave the game and the girls vowed to win for her. The girls went on a 12-4 run to end the half and taking a 16-14 lead.
