13 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1997

UPDATE 11/22/10  Thank you to all the parents and players who signed up and came out for the tryouts on Saturday!  I am in the process of making calls and connecting with the 2011 NRV 13s Club Team. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE 11/22/10- I am so excited to announce that Coach Shannon Thompson has agreed to be my assistant coach this season. Not only are the players going to be blessed but I as a coach as well.  Please read her biography below.

-Coach David Adams -

David Adams just moved back to the area from Texas last year.  He grew up in Salem, VA.  He has been coaching youth sports since he graduated from high school.  He has coached football, girls T-ball, basketball, and volleyball.  He has actively been coaching volleyball since 2006.  He has coached both youth recreational leagues and Juniors with a club in Texas. David led his 14s team to several victories and the team was ranked in the top ten in the ODR.  He is USA Volleyball IMPACT certified and CAP level I certified and enjoys watching kids learn the sport of volleyball and expand their personal skills.  His daughter, Faith, plays volleyball, and he has two sons, Ben and Jacob, that keep him active. David received Coach of the Year award and will be coaching 12/13s during the 2010-2011 season.  He will be coaching the 13s Competition team and will be overseeing the 12/13 developmental teams along with Coach Josie Meek.

  Coach Shannon Thompson

Shannon Thompson has been a volleyball coach for the past six years in Botetourt County.  She spent four years at James River High School, two of those years as the head coach.  Her 2007 team won the Pioneer District Regular Season and she was named the Pioneer District Coach of the Year.  She has spent the past two years as the head coach at Central Academy Middle School in Fincastle, Virginia where she hopes to pass along a love for the game to girls who are just beginning to play.

Somewhere behind the athlete you've become, the hours of practice, the coaches who pushed you, the teammates who believe in you, and the fans who cheer for you is the little girl who took that first perfect shot.  The little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back, play for her.   ~Mia Hamm

I believe, in Club, the importance is all around practice and what we learn during that .. Tournaments are a way to measure how we are doing against others.  Coach Adams

  13s ClubTeam

I am planning to select at least one competitive team during the tryouts. (Any age up to 13 yrs)

We will play in about 4- One day tournaments and a single overnight tournament. (All subject to change depending on the availability of the tournaments).

Last Year we played in Blacksburg, Harrisonburg , Roanoke and Asheville NC.

Plus- if the players and parents decide we want to play another over night tournament later in the season that is certainly an option!

We will practice at the The Edge Sport complex in Roanoke. Twice a week. (Dates and Times TBD)

We will start the week after Thanksgiving and go until April or so..
