Posted Aug 22/11 - 2011 Season Wrap-Up

The Black Sox completed their successful season by placing fifth at the 2011 Canadian National Midget Baseball Championship. This was up four spots from their finish at last years National Championship.

A special thank-you from the team goes out to Brett Zazulak, a 10 year old baseball player from Regina who discovered the Sox team during batting practice, rode home on his bike to get his own baseball helmet and became their official batboy for the duration of the tournament. Brett provided a lot of motivation for the players in the dugout. Thanks Brett!

Thank-you again to all the fans who have supported the Black Sox all season, especially the grandparents and other relatives who travelled all the way to Regina to watch the boys play.

We say farewell to the three senior players, Paul Esteves, Marc Andre Habeck and Cam Morin. Thank-you for your contributions in helping the Sox achieve back-to-back City and Provincial Championship titles.

Go Sox!

Posted Aug 7/11 - Back to Back Provincial Champions

It came down to a pitching dual in the semi-final game; with Marc Andre Habeck edging out the Winnipeg South Chief's pitcher to earn the team a spot in the finals with only one run scored the entire game.

The Sox then came out on top in the finals beating Oildome 5-2.

The AAA Bonivital Black Sox held onto their title of both City and Provincial Champions for the second year in a row. This is quite an achievement with only three senior players on the team. They will now represent Manitoba at Baseball Canada's National tournament held August 18-21, 2011 in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Congratulations to the players and coaches of the AAA Midget Bonivital Black Sox!

Posted Aug 6/11 - Sox Advance to the Semi-Finals at Provincials

The fans were treated to some exciting playoff action during Friday's games. In a must win game against Pemina Hills, Nolan Powell scored a run early in the first with no further runs scored until the top of the sixth inning when Paul Esteves drove one over the fence for a home run. Brady Bouchad was able to steal home on a wild pitch making the score 3-0 going into the bottom of seven. Troy Allard pitched all seven innings and with great offensive backing from his team shut out Pembina Hills with a final pitch count of 100 and no runs scored against them.

The Sox ended the round-robin Provincial Championship Pool A with a 3-1 record advancing them to Saturday's semi-final game. They will face the Winnipeg South Chiefs. Game time is 12:00 in Reston. Winner of that game will advance to the championship final at 3:00.

Go Sox!

Posted Jul 28/11 - Back-to-Back City Champs

The Bonivital Black Sox AAA Midget team held onto the title of City Champions; winning the best of three series in two games over Interlake.

The team heads on the road for Provincials August 4-6th.  Scores will be updated on the home website for fans unable to make the trip out to rural Manitoba.

Go Sox!
