Welcome to the 2012 Victoria Red Eagles Bantam AAA team site.
Well the 2012 season has come to an end. It has been a fun and exciting season (23-18) culminating in a birth in the 2012 Provincial tournament. The Red Eagles went 1-3 in the tourney but beat the eventual champion Vancouver Mounties 2-1 in 10 innings in a game that all involved will remember for years, it truly was a classic. The Red Eagles got beat by Richmond and then lost a close decision to runner up Abbotsford before losing to Cloverdale Red Spurs in their closing game of the tournament.
Ethan Skuija and Adam Bontkes pitched incredibly well in the win over the Mounties with Skuij going 7.66 innings and only allowing 3 hits before Adam came in and shut the door. Lucas Soper pitched very well for the Mounties but was outdone by Skuij. A leadoff double by Kobe Morris and a walk off single by Dylan Werrun secured the win in the bottom of the 10th. Skuij earned a call up to the Mounties for the National Championship in Ontario in a few weeks.
In the loss to Richmond the Red Eagles struggled out of the gate and although getting it close in the 4th and 5th innings eventually lost 15-5.
In the loss to Abbotsford Adam Bontkes threw a great game going 4.66 innings and only allowing 1 earned run in the 4-2 loss. Adam and Ben Goertzen earned a call up to the Abbotsford team for the Western Canadian Championship in Saskatchewan in a few weeks.
In the last game of the season for most Red Eagle players the team came out flat in support of Jordan Strandlund on the mound. Falling behind early they never mounted enough offense to seriously threaten the Red Spurs and ended up losing 5-2.
Congratulations to Ethan, Adam and Ben for getting the call to continue their seasons with some good ball players on a couple of good teams. Good luck and all of the best to you guys
As for the rest of the Red Eagles, it has been a good season and everyone involved wishes you guys a good summer and all the best in your other sports and fall baseball.
