2009 Playoffs - all teams guaranteed 2 games.  Team play 2, 3 or 4 games

If any game is rained out, all remaining games are subject to reschedule

Two referee system is being used for playoffs, linesmen should not be needed

Times and locations are now set for all playoff games.  Changes allowed due to  - Field changes - upgrade when possible   - time changes, earlier as darkness beckons  - rainouts.  As necessary, some or all remaining games may be affected.

Finals, week of August 7th will be 6:30pm starts  Week of August 31st will be 6:45pm starts  week of Aug 24th were 7:00pm starts.  As we get deeper into the playoffs, start times change.

Tie Games:  5 person shootout.  if still tied, individual shooters   - no one takes a second shot until all players have taken one shot   - all players on team may participate in shootout, do not have to be on field of play when game ends.

What we know:

1st Aim, 2nd NX, 3rd OATS, 4th Blizzard, 5th XS U, 6th L&F, 10th Metro
(above based on interim result from July 23 with Oats defeating XS U)

MC U finishes 8th.  Yellow Jackets, 7th.  F'nss 9th.

F'nss and MC U tied for 8th in the Standings.  But MC U garnered 4 pts and F'nss 1 pt from their two matches - hence MC U awarded 8th and F'nss 9th.  How the mighty have fallen.

Referees e-mail in their game reports. When done, the scores are posted and cautions issued by the ref are recorded for the Discipline / Ref Coordinator. When not done, the games are added to the Missing Game Report List (above). 

PLEASE NOTE:  F'nss will default their game Wednesday August 12th.  This is their fourth default of the year (strictly speaking, they could have played two of the three with seven players but choose to play a friendly).  They have played short numerous other games.

Yes, they have a roster of 27 players.  Players were asked to signup only if they could commit to a majority of the games.  Core of players who have made every effort but ......

Anticipated that they will field a team for Monday August 17th and for the playoffs.  Future for 2010 is undecided - .

Parking - Use parking lots when provided.  Avoid parking in front of Residential homes.
At Forest Heights use the parking lot by the tennis courts.

 

Soccer Fields  -  Leave no garbage behind.  Water bottles / Tape.  Do a good deed, pickup anything and everything - garbage receptacles usually close by.

Washrooms - Forest Heights, porta potty south just beyond the second ball diamond

Profanity - absolutely no need for it.  Either on the field or casual conversation on the sidelines. Usually there are others within earshoot.  Forest Heights is a Public Park.  Poor behavior is not tolerated. 

GSL Player Eligibility:  maximum of 2 players per team may be U25 (but over 21) as of May 1st of the season.  All players not to have played Div 1 or higher within previous 16 months (indoor or outdoor) in other soccer leagues.  And never played for money or kind/scholarship.

GSL games will be rescheduled for inclement weather, especially lightning. The City of Edmonton is a large area, poor weather in one area does not mean poor weather at Forest Heights. Wed May 7th was an evening of light drizzle. Field was in good condition, no chance of damage to the field. The game was played. Of course, if the fields are closed by the city then the game would not be played.

Discipline standards: 2 yellow cards during the season result in a one game suspension. Additional yellow cards result in additional suspensions on a one for one basis. Continual suspensions and / or Red cards are cause for further review. All teams are onside with this policy.

Captain Arm Bands. Teams, please ensure you designate two players to be your onfield captains for each game. This helps our referees in addressing player concerns and to minimize on-field commentary towards the officials. If additional arm bands are required for your club, let Doug or Bruce know.
