2008 UPDATES and ACTIVITIES

Guys...an update on Alberta and BC provincial Mosquito AAA champions:

• St Albert won the Alberta Mosquito AAA provincial championship (beat Spruce Grove in the final)
• Newton won the BC Mosquito AAA provincial championship (beat Chilliwack in the final game)

We played all of those teams (except Spruce Grove) and know we can beat them all with a bit more work.  More incentive to work hard this winter!!!!

Our last game will be Thursday night July 17 against the Majors rep team....we will join up with a few of the AAA Minors to play the Majors.  Sorry to those of you that showed up on Wednesday night....totally my mistake.....Coach Jerry.

Guys ....great job in Kelowna.  You were playing against the very best AAA teams in British Columbia and were in every game to the end!  Really pleased with your bats ...you proved you can hit the best pitching in Canada!  I hope you had a great trip...keep watching for the Photos of the games, lasertag, tubing and the beach.

June 10    CANCELLED -Practice Friday night at 6:30 pm at Majors diamond.  CANCELLED - Game on Sunday at 11:30 am against Majors Rep team at Majors diamond.

June 9      Excellent weekend boys.  Lost a close one to Lloydminster in the semi-final (Lloyd won the tournament - beating Spruce Grove 6-1 in the final). We have beaten that team once already and we know we can do it again.

May 28     Sherwood Park tournament schedule is posted for June 6/7/8.  Good luck during the mid-season tournament and remember to practice extending leads on every pitch and being aggressive on the bathpaths during the week.

May 19     Guys... good job this weekend and a pretty good start to the year considering these were our first games as a team.  You need to know that St. Albert is likely the best Mosquito AAA team in Alberta and they pitched their #1 and #2 pitchers against us. They won the tournament easily (beat Spruce Grove 12-2 in the final).  They are undefeated this year and also in first place in the Provincial AAA League with a 6-0 record.  You also need to know that the South Jasper Jays that we beat in the first game are in 3rd place in that Provincial AAA League with a 5-1 record.   This weekend has proved we are very competitive with the best Mosquito AAA teams in the province !  Can't wait until Sherwood Park!!!  I spoke to Reggie today and he is very proud of all of you, as are coaches Dutch, Jim and me   ...all your hard work this winter is paying off.                                 Coach Jerry

HOTELS for St Albert Tournament May 16 and 17.  We are staying at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, West Edmonton, 1130 170 Street Edmonton Alberta.  1 780 444 3110.  The rooms are all under my name for now.  I do need to know who needs rooms so that I can give back the rooms that we will not need.  I will email more information later.
