Panthers win 3rd straight MSC title and 5th in seven years
With a 10-4 route of Scottsburg on Monday, 9/23, the Panthers secured their 3rd straight MSC soccer title. The Panthers were led by Indiana University recruit Cory Thomas who tallied 6 in the victory. Thomas also became the all time leading scorer in Corydon history with his second goal of the evening. Isidro Chavez also scored twice with the other goals coming from Grant Robinson and Austin Whittington.
This was the 5th title for the Panthers in the first seven years of conference play. In addition, since the inception of MSC soccer in 2000, the Panthers have topped the MSC standings in 10 of the 14 years that the MSC has played the sport.
For the first 7 years of play, the MSC did not field enough teams to crown an "official" conference champion. During that period the Panthers were at the top of the standings of the 4 schools playing soccer (Corydon, Charlestown, North Harrison and Scottsburg) in 5 of the 7 years.
