GREAT JOB GREEN GOBLINS!!!
****************************************************************
Thanks to everyone for a terrific season!!

Scrimmage Summary: Of course the team still has a ways to go... especially on base-running and paying attention to the game itself. On the upside the pitchers from Wednesday night (Justin, Luke, J-Rod) all did a great job. There were some nice fielding plays from Chris E., Robby C., and J-Rod and big hits provided by Bobby P., and Big Ben. I am hoping that eneryone had fun, and thank you to all the parents for a great turnout.

Game 1 Summary: What a way to start things out! Season opening, thrilling come from behind victory over Burlington City team #8. David Viselli got things started with superb pitching the first 2 innings of the game. David faced only 7 batters, striking out 2, and allowing no hits. Player of the Game; Jordan Rodriguez robbed City's 3rd batter of a sure hit with a great defensive play at third base. Luke Sowa had a strong showing behind the plate. Although the bats were not really that strong, eveyone showed patience while in the batters box. Robby Cox pitched a strong fourth inning striking out 2 and got help from a nice play when Bobby P. and Justin L. teamed up to seal the game.

Scrimmage Summary: Anthony Zack started the game out with a nice hit as lead off batter, but we were not able to mount much more offense in the beginning. Again we tried using many kids in many different positions, which I hope the team enjoyed. Justin L. again had a good outing at pitcher. In the last inning the bats woke up with big hits from Ryan M., Justin L., and an inside the park homerun by Luke S. We still need to work on our fielding and paying attention to the game, but I think we are getting there. Thanks again parents for another great turnout.

Game 2 Summary: Harris Fence goes to 2-0 with an 8-1 victory over Stella's Restaurant. This game was a nail biter up until the 6th inning when Harris Fence added 4 more runs to the board. Pitching was the key in this game. David Viselli threw 2 strong innings striking out 5. Bobby Palentchar had 4 k's, with only 1 walk. Robby Cox had a strong 5th inning striking out 2 and giving up just 1 walk. Justin Lortangeli threw a great 6th inning striking out 3 of the 4 batters he faced, while earning player of the game honors. The pitching staff recorded 14 of the team's 18 outs. Big hits were provided by Charles Sangermano, Chris Everett, J-Rod, David V. with a double, and Bobby P. with 2 doubles and a single.

Game 3 Summary: Harris Fence fell to A-Z Emblems for a 7-6 loss. This game had it all, great pitching, big hits, and excellent fielding from both teams. David V. and Bobby P. again both pitched well. Ryan McClure Saved 2 runs with a nice catch in deep left field. Robby Cox turned an unassisted double play at first base. But in the end it came down to A-Z stealing this win when Bobby P.'s 2-out bases loaded shot to right center field was caught.

Game 4 Summary: The boys bounced right back with a 12-5 victory over Burlington Coat Factory. Big hits were provided by Chris E., Luke S., David V., Bobby P., and Anthony Z. David V. again looks like the most dominating pitcher in the league, striking out 5 in only 2 innings work. Bobby P. and J-Rod each pitched well after a bit of early struggles. Luke Sowa and Player of the Game Anthony Zack teamed up for what looked to be one of the best defensive plays of the season so far.

Game 5 Summary: The Green Goblins (aka Harris Fence) pulled out another nail biter with a come from behind 9-8 victory over Burlington City. The Goblins looked like they had this one in the bag early, but City put up a good fight, and took the lead in the 5th inning when Rodney Williams belted a homerun. The Goblins fought right back scoring a run in the bottom of the 5th to tie it up, then shut down City in the top of the 6th. Player of the game Ryan McClure crossed the plate for the winning run in the bottom of the 6th, ending a thrilling game.

Game 6 Summary: The Goblins of Green brought the lumber to this game with a 14-6 victory over Sounds of Petie. Big bats by Justin L., Ryan McClure, Anthony Z., Robby C., Luke S. (triple), J-Rod (3 doubles), and Player of the game Bobby Palentchar (6 RBI's including a bases loaded homerun). Strong pitching again by Robby C., Justin L., and Bobby P. kept this game in check.

Game 7 Summary: The Goblins continued to eat up the scoreboard, earning their 6th win in 7 games, with a 17-9 victory over Burlington Coat Factory. Pitching again was strong with Robby Cox and David Viselli, teaming up for 4 innings allowing just 4 runs while earning 7 strikeouts between them. Chris Everett then pitched his first ever inning and recorded 2 strikeouts. The bats were really the key in this one, with big hits provided by Chris E.(double), David V.(double, triple, 3RBI's), Justin L.(2 singles, RBI), Anthony Z.(single, RBI), J-Rod(single, RBI), and Player of the Game Luke Sowa(2 singles, double, 3RBI's, 2 steals of home).

Game 8 Summary: Harris Fence falls to Burlington City Team #7, 11-10, in a error filled game from both teams. The Goblins were behind after the first, second, and fifth innings but never gave up and battled back to take a 1 run lead in the top of the 6th. City rallied in the bottom of the 6th with 2 runs to seal the victory. The Goblins again were able to provide a few big hits with David V. (double), Luke S. (a triple, single), J-Rod (single), Justin L. (single), Bobby P. (single), and Robby C. (2 singles and a inside the park home-run).

Game 9 Summary: The Goblins bounced right back from Tuesday night's dissapointing loss to City with a 8-4 victory over Subway. The Goblins gave their best team effort of the season so far with every player reaching base at least once. In the second inning the Goblins put this one away early with 5 runs scored while still not having an out recorded. In this inning singles by Anthony, J-Rod, Ryan, Justin, and Robby. Big Ben drew a walk and Player of the Game Everett Aldrich smacked a bases loaded double scoring the first 2 runs of the inning. Also adding to this game's hit parade were David with 2 doubles, Luke with 2 singles, and Bobby P with a single. Again the trio of Bobby, Robby, and David were strong in the pitching department, allowing only 4 hits in the game.

Game 10 Summary: The Goblins of Green improved their record to 8-2 by playing a very sound defensive game and coming out on top 5-1 over Burlington City. Pitching was strong as Bobby, Robby and David combined for 13 strikeouts. Luke Sowa made a great tag play at the plate and Chris Everett gave a super-man effort on tracking down a pop fly foul ball against the fence, deep down the left field side. Big hits were supplied by Ryan M.(double), David V.(single), Justin L.(single), Robby C.(single, double), and Luke S.(inside the park homerun). Player of the Game Ben Aloi added 3 stolen bases to go along with his 2 walks adding 2 runs to the team's total.

Game 11 Summary: Stella's Market could not come up with enough players in this one and had to forfeit. The game became a scrimmage and the coaches were able to look at players in a few different spots. Justin L. and J-Rod looked really comfortable and both did a great job in their combined 3 innings of pitching. Luke Sowa and Chris Everett teamed up for a nice rundown tagout between home and third. Hopefully we can squeeze the remaining 3 games into the schedule before the playoffs begin.

Game 12 Summary: Harris Fence improves to 10-2 with a 13-5 victory over Sounds of Petie. The team was able to just squeeze in four full innnings before the rains came. Leading the hit parade was Bobby P. with 2 triples and a double. Also strong showings by Robby C.(triple, 2 singles), David V.(double, 2 singles), J-Rod(double), Justin L.(single), and Ryan M.(single). The team used two nine year old pitchers tonight with J-Rod and Robby combining for 3 strong innings. Then the team's ace, David Viselli came in for 1 inning striking out 3 with a total of only 10 pitches thrown. Player of the game, Chris Everett, worked the opposing team pitcher's for 2 walks and 3 stolen bases with 2 runs scored.

Quarterfinal Playoff Summary: Harris Fence advances to the semifinals with a 11-4 victory over Burlington City. Player of the Game Justin Lortangeli led the Goblins going 3 for 3(2 singles and double). Also providing big hits were Robby C.(single), Bobby P.(single), and Luke S.(double). Fine defensive plays were turned in by Anthony Z., Chris E., Luke S., and Bobby P. Pitching again was key as Bobby P. and Robby C. combined for a 3 hitter and seven strikeouts in 4 innings work. The Goblins then brought in their ace David V. who struck out 4 while facing only 6 batters in 2 innings work.

Semifinal Game Summary: Defense was the key to this one for the Green Goblins as they allowed only 1 run and no hits in a 6-1 victory over Stella's. Players of the Game, David Viselli and Robby Cox, teamed up for 6 strikouts and added 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's between them. Bobby Palentchar also threw 2 strong innings with 4 strikeouts and the defense was hotter than the day, with 6 recorded outs. On the offensive side Bobby Palentchar supplied the big hit with a triple, driving in the team's first run. Ryan McClure fought off an injury and added an RBI with a single in the 5th inning. Others in the action were Ben A.(single), Everett A.(single), Luke S.(single), David V.(single), Robby C.(single), and Justin L.(single). Next up for the Goblins is a match with Burlington Coat Factory for the championship of the league.

Championship Summary: The Green Goblins win Burlington Township's first ever Cal Ripken Minor League Championship. The Goblins earned a hard fought 8-6 victory over Burlington Coat Factory. The Goblins never trailed in this one with a total team effort all night long. Some of the Highlights included... Justin L. going 3 for 3 at bat with 3 runs scored, Ryan M. earning a 2 for 3 night, Ben Aloi stealing second base and then turning on the speed to take it all the way home on an overthrow scoring the first run of a big 3 run 5th inning, Anthony Z. pounding out a double, Luke S., Everett A., and David V. all picking up RBI's on hard shots in the infield. The pitching and defense again were spectacular as Bobby, Robby, and David combined for 13 strikeouts and the rest of the team playing big D behind them. Again, THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR A TERRIFIC SEASON!!
