Countdown to Practice begins this week!! (Mar 1/08)
For the spring and summer of 2008, the outlook for the Mobile Girls Basketball Association is very bright. We go into this season with our major focus being on our two senior girls teams.
Our 16U team coached by Brian Thomas and Ray Marsh are coming off of a very successful campaign in the 15U age division in 2007. This team played in twelve tournaments and a total of 44 games, claiming three championships and participated in three NCAA Certified tournament. They finished the season with 25 wins and 19 losses. Through our participation in the NCAA Certified Tournaments, we have exposed these girls to the highest lever of competition and to college coaches and recruiters. These coaches and recruiters are looking to evaluate players for possible recruitment into their athletic programs. As a result, several of our girls are being actively recruited by major colleges and universities.
The other team of focus will be our 15U team that is coached by Stacey Thomas and Rob Ladner. This team was established last summer and campaigned in the 14U age division. These girls played hard and were very competitive, entering into six tournaments and local league play.
After a summer of getting to know each other and their coaches, the 15U girls will "kick-it-up-a-notch" by entering NCAA Certified Tournaments.
In 2008, we will continue our association with our friends at Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC). Over the years the Mobile Girls Basketball Association has participated in several tournament at CUMC, including the inaugural game that was played in the new Christ Center in 2005.
We firmly believe that these experiences will not only help improve our youth as middle and high school basketball players, but will also help them to grow and mature into the type of citizens that we can be proud to say are members of the Mobile Girls Basketball Association. Later on in their lives, we hope that our young ladies will look back on these experiences with a sense of pride and joy, and as being a major part of their life's foundation.
