Program Purpose and Objectives:
The primary purpose of the Land O’ Leagues program is to offer boys and girls an educational experience in a healthy competitive setting. The emphasis of this program, under the supervision of the Waukesha YMCA and the commission, shall be participation, character development, good sportsmanship, instruction and fun.
1. Provide an option for smaller communities in the Waukesha County area to offer their residents the opportunity to play organized baseball/softball which they may otherwise not be able to play because of their community’s size.
2. Provide various levels of play for youth ages 8-18 so not to exclude any participant because of playing level/skills.
3. Provide teams the ability to play various levels of baseball without traveling significant distances or with over abundant cost.
4. Consistently uphold the ideals of good sportsmanship, focus on learning, skill development and team play.
Teams wishing to join the league will be reviewed and accepted by the commission. Open registration must be held in each community, and the opportunity for all interested eligible players to play must be advertised and made known to the community’s residents. Teams, who conduct try-outs, select their players, or who already have a local recreational league for that age group must be placed in the “Select” division. This may be appealed to the commission and exceptions may be made on a probationary basis. All teams must follow the residency restrictions and eligibility requirements as indicated in the official League Rules.
