Luke Grefsheim went 2-3 and hit a home run, but the Suns still fell to the Nicolet Knights 8-6 in seven innings on Monday at Stormmonth Field. Even though Sulli Kohnke allowed six runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory. Sulli struck out two, walked one and gave up 10 hits. Nolan Wagner, Alex Braun and Matt Appleby helped lead Nicolet Varsity. They combined for six hits and three RBIs. The top of the first saw the Suns take an early lead, 2-0. The Suns rally started when Sam Lemke singled. A stolen base then moved Sam from first to second. Eric Bould singled, bringing home Sam. The Suns then tacked on one more run when Bould scored on an RBI single by Zach Biermann. The Suns got one-run boosts in each of the third, fourth, fifth, and seventh innings. In the third, the Suns scored on an RBI double by Eric, scoring Luke. Nicolet Varsity survived each of Easts surges and put up three runs of its own in the third. Nicolet Varsity scored on a fielder's choice, an RBI double by Alex, and an RBI single by Hunter Crass. The Suns scored one run in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the seventh. In the fifth, the Suns scored on a solo home run by Luke. Nicolet Varsity stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fifth, scoring two runs on an error and a groundout by Henken. Nicolet Varsity piled on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Nolan kicked things off with a solo blast. |
