Game Notes: Delano was the place of another great section 8 game. This one like all came right down to the wire, and had alittle bit of everything, great plays, hitting, drama, weird calls, balls hit into the ivy...
2nd inn scoring summary
with 1 out Ode, and Boomer single, Slater hits into FC, 2 outs and Tony hits a clutch single scoring ODE, 1-0
Bottom 3rd
Delano scored all there runs in the 3rd, 1 out, then 2 singles. Next batter grounds a ball back to Tony but the ball gets under he glove, (could have been possible double play) ruled an error, but a run scored , bases loaded Plato thought they had hitter rung up but ruled a ball, next pitch a 2 run double 4-1 Delano.
Top 4th
Plato comes back with Eric leading off with a ground rule double in the Ivy, Ode grounds out to SS, Boomer then hits a ground rule double into the Ivy, Eric scores 4-2 delano up.
Top 8th
Smothers grounds out, Johnson singles, Lang doubles, Eric strike out, Ode walks. bases loaded Boomer walks, Lang scores 4-3 Delano. With a 3-1 count Slater grounds out to SS to end inns. Bluejays would go 1,2,3 in 9th and Delano holds on for a big section win 4-3.
Tony went the distance on the hill givin up 3 ER, 1 rough inn otherwise solid game again from the Bluejays ace.
On offense the Bluejays 2-6 hitters combine for 10 of the 11 hits, going 10-18. Johnson,Lang,Eric, Ode, and Boomer had 2 hit.
Despite the loss ,this was a well played ,fun ball game. Plato still had some mental mistakes on the bases but over all a great section war.
Worth mentioning: In the 6th inn a Bluejays rally was cut short by a phantum out of baseline call, that left everyone scratching their heads. Also thanks to EE, who hosted the post game party with plenty of cold beverages used to recap this classic game.
Plato now takes a week off to re-group then travel to D/C, which should be a great game as well. HAPPY 4TH!!
