Game Notes: Kelowna Cubs scored early and often, then held off a charging North Shore Twins club to win the semifinal of the Best of the West Tournament 12-10 Saturday in Penticton. Twins' starter Justin Hauk gave up five consecutive walks in the first inning before being relieved, and when the dust had cleared, Kelowna scored eight runs. North Shore chipped away at the Kelowna lead, getting to within two in the final inning. Brett Sanguin made a game-saving throw from center field to nail a Twin runner at the plate. Spencer Kilpatrick got the win on the mound for Kelowna, with Cody Valgardson closing out the final inning for the save. Valgardson also led the Cubs at the plate with two hits and three rbi's. Brayden Malakoff had two singles, Jamie Newmarch had three rbi's, and Sanguin scored four runs in the Cub victory.
