Notes:
The Thunder earned its first victory of the young season with a 8-1 win over Burnsville. Righthander Jake Kruegel (1-0) scattered five hits in 5 1/3 innings of work and was backed by the first errorless game by the defense. He struck out the side in the first inning and finished with a team season-high nine for the the game. Beau "Ichibeau" Jacobson pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in his first appearance of the season. The Thunder offense staked Kruegel to an early lead, tallying single runs in the first and second innings. In the initial frame, Brad "B-Train" Landgrebe hit a one-out single and later scored on John Grotkin's RBI single. In the second, Mitch Haug hit a one-out double and came home on Nick Molitor's double to deep left center. In the third, the Thunder struck for three to go up 5-0. Kruegel, Grotkin and "Easy" Eddie Hagberg all walked with one out to load the bases. JJ McKay responded with a clutch two-run single, and Hagberg later scored on a wild pitch. The Thunder added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings for the final margin. Every Thunder starter reached base, with RF Matt Neutz adding a walk. The club returns to action Wednesday v. Eagan at Legion Field. Pitching match-ups TBA.
