Game Notes: The Thunder (18-3, 8-2) capped a historic regular season with a 12-4 road win over Burnsville at Alimagnet. The victory produced the club's first outright division crown in six seasons (the club tied for the division lead in 2007) and puts the Thunder in the state tournament for the first time with an automatic bid. It also marks the team's fourth straight state tournament appearance and fifth in six seasons. After the Pythons took home field in the two-game series last week with a 8-4 win, the Thunder responded with a 15 hit barrage that chased Burnsville's starter in the fifth. Matt DeCovich (3-4, 2B) led the charge with a season-high four RBI. Sam Foy went 3-3, stole two bases and scored three times. Brian Rush had two steals and scored twice; Mike Radermacher (3RS) knocked in a pair, and Lucas Haug, Peter Zukanoff, Joel Bertelsen and Matt Lilledahl all drove in runs. Lilledahl also became the club's all-time single season steals leader with his 13th, surpassing Nick Molitor's 12 set in 2006. Kellen Kersten, making his return from the DL, had an RBI-triple. Righthander Robbie Sikich (5-0)went six strong innings, yielding four runs on six hits before giving way to Radermacher in the 7th. With the win, Sikich tied Allen Bechstein (04) and Spencer Pratt (07) for top honors on the all-time club single season wins list. Sikich struck out three and walked three. The Thunder will meet the North Division play-off winner in the first game of the State tournament beginning Tuesday, July 14.
