Game Notes: The Amigos win in their final at-bat. It was a game the Bad Boys were in control of through out. The Bad Boys led until the bottom of the 8th, and then lost it in the bottom of the 9th. Forget about crucial baserunning mistakes. With 16 hits, and 13 runners left on base, the Bad Boys had plenty of opportunities to put this one away. In the top of the 8th inning the Bad Boys batted with a 5-3 lead. Josh Hoke, who was 3-5 on the day with a double, run scored, and is now batting a cool .350, led off with a base hit. A few pitches later Hoke attempted to steal second. As he did, the Amigos second baseman vacated his position and Noel Carlson executed a picture perfect hit and run to the right side for a base hit. The table was set. First and third with no out and a 5-3 lead. The excitement was shortlived, though. The next three Bad Bays struck out in order. That was the last serious Bad Boy threat. A couple key errors proved costly, but there were many positives on this day.

Starting pitcher Jared Podruchny(0-0) went 5 very effective innings limiting the Amigos to 1 run before running out of gas. Defensively, the Bad Boys are consistently turning double plays when given the opportunity this year. And they're starting to hit! The team batting average is the highest it's been (.293) since the 7th inning of the season opener versus the Pirates in '09. Jeremy Acree continues to pick everything at first and his bat's coming around like you knew it would. Acree was 3-5 with a 2 RBI double and run scored, and is now hitting .364, which is what you'd expect. Tony Romero has a hit in every game he's played 7-16(.438), and his ceiling seems limitless. Romero is hitting .778 on balls he's put in play. Danny Clemans' timing and baseball swing are beginning to come around. He had 2 RBI's on his second double of the young season. Then there's Travis Thomas(Oh my God!) who went 3-5 with a stolen base and a run scored. He is off to a sizzling start in 2010 as he's hitting .643 through his first 5 games. Thomas' career numbers versus the Amigos are as follows: 4 games, 8-17(.471), 6 runs scored, 2 triples, and 4 stolen bases.
