The Bad Boys don't lose to the Pirates! Ever! The Bad Boys had only 8 players at game time, and played with 8 for the first 4 innings. At first it looked like the Bad Boys would be in trouble. With huge gaps in the 2-man outfield, two first inning fly balls turned into triples. With nobody out, two runs in, and a runner on third, the Pirates cleanup batter hit a dying quail to shallow center. Jeremy Acree, playing shortstop, and Steve Sloboda, at second, collided. Somehow Sloboda held on to the ball, jumped up and fired to home in time to get the lead runner like he's done it before. That double play woke the Bad Boys up. After the next batter singled, Bad Boys workhorse Jared Podruchny(3-4) immediately picked him off at first to give the Bad Boys some much needed momentum. There was no doubt the Bad Boys would hit. It wasn't until Matt Airey made his season debut in the fifth inning of a 4-4 game, at second base, did the Bad Boys finally put nine on the field. When the game was evenly matched it was no match. From the 5th inning on the Bad Boys out scored the Pirates 9-3. "Batman" Marc Grenon regained his stroke in going 3-4 with 2BB, a 2B, RBI, and 3 runs scored. Marc finished the regular season hitting .325. Sloboda finishes as the team's top hitter at .359. He went 3-6 with a 3B, 2RBI, 2 runs scored and his first stolen base of the year. His double play may not have won the game in the first, but it sure as hell sent the message to the 1-15-1 Pirates that the Bad Boys brought their brooms with them. Bad Boy slugger Jeremy Acree had just one hit, but it was a good one. He doubled to start a rally in the 6th. Acree finishes the year as the team leader in RBI's with 10. He also hit .333 for the season. Matt Aukland went 2-4 with 2 more SB's to push his record setting total to 17 to go along with his .300 average. Aukland's getting hot at the right time. In his last 5 games he's hitting 10-19(.526), slugging .684, has an OB% of .625, and 9 SB's. Podruchny finished as the team's strike out king, no double meaning. He had 31 K's while logging a team high 36 innings. Matt Airey in his only work of the season pitched the final 4 innings with 3 K's to earn the save. The Bad Boys finish the year 5-12-1 and have an off day this Wednesday before meeting the Ruston Monarchs in the first round of the playoffs. PLAYOFFS! This year the Bad Boys scored 93 runs, while giving up 149, 87 of which were earned. After a 6-5 win versus the Monarchs earlier in the year the Bad Boys have dropped consecutive contests to the 2008 champions by the scores of 8-1, and 8-3. Good Luck BAD BOYS!!! Start your journey now, my Lord's.
