BAD BOYS 200141001993
Tacoma JRE Pirates 101010000336
Game Notes: For the first time in more than a month I'm proud to anounce a Bad Boys win. For the second time in as many games versus the Pirates the Bad Boys come away victorious. The tone was set early. Travis Thomas led off the game with a walk and immediately stole second. After a popout, Jeremy Acree followed with a single. Playing it safe was Thomas who held up at third. A passed ball moved Acree into scoring position, and Russell Breedlove provided the muscle with a single, plating both runners. The Pirates scored a few single runs and the Bad Boy lead was just 3-2 going into the 5th. Leading off the top of the 5th for the Bad Boys was newly acquired thirdbaseman Zack Larson. Larson struck out, but thanks to his awareness, hustle, and determination he reached first on a catcher's error. Mark Stewart followed with a walk. After a fly out to left, Larson and Stewart executed a double steal to perfection. Thomas drove in Larson with a sacrifice fly to left. Steve Sloboda followed with a single, scoring Stewart. Sloboda would take second as his single was misplayed in the outfield. Acree then reached first on an infield single, and Sloboda scored on the errant, rushed throw to first in attempt to get a speeding Acree. Acree would later score on a passed ball, giving the Bad Boys all the cushion they would need. Acree, who reached base safely all 4 plate appearances, finished the game 3-4 with a SB and 3 runs scored, raising his average to .375. On the mound, Bad Boys starter Jared Podruchny(2-3) needed little run support. In his finest outing of the year Podruchny worked 7 innings allowing only 2 hits while striking out a franchise record 10 Pirates. Podruchny now has 24 K's in 24 innings. Travis Thomas worked 2 scoreless innings and struck out 3 to seal the deal. The duo of Podruchny and Thomas allowed only 3 hits and struck out 13! The Bad Boys are now 3-8-1. Next up for the Bad Boys is the rubber match versus last year's champion Monarchs.
