Bullying by Hockey
Administrators
After thrilling Olympic hockey in Vancouver, proudly followed by Hockey Day in Canada in Stratford, we’re floored by the bullying in minor hockey in London. Midget players in house league hockey know what I mean: administrators with no sense of sportsmanship.
None could overlook the self-interest displayed by SSE Wild President and Midget House League Convenor, at the expense of 16-17 year old hockey players. Check the standings
at www.ballcharts.com/ssewildmidgetc. Two SSE Midget house league teams blew out the remaining London competition while another team sat at the bottom all year, in 18th place.
What incredibly poor leadership and flagrant bullying within a London community, youth sports program. Like those anti-bullying commercials on TV, where an adult is obviously short-changing kids, both President and Convenor were just cruel. And don’t the players know it!
At the Annual General Meeting (May 4, 7 pm, Nichols Community Centre), we must send the SSE Wild executive a strong message. It is unacceptable to collect registration fees from players and their families, and then disenfranchise them by creating lopsided teams. At over $500 per player, the SSE Wild President and all Convenors are required to provide appropriate service: meaning fair ice time and balanced teams.
