WHY EXHAUSTED?

 

Dave 'Orzy' Orzel

1973-2014

 

On one of their many drives from Castle Rock up the Kalama River Road, Dave Orzel and Joe Bair decided to put together the top players from small towns to compete against the best teams in the Northwest. Unfortunately, Orzy passed away on January 19 and didn't get to see RBI evolve. In his honor, the team's hats have the word 'EXHAUSTED' on the back. 

Orzy had an amazing way of getting through to his players and at one point during the summer of '13 he wasn't happy with their effort on the field. In a way that only Orzy could, he demanded that every single guy be 'exhausted' mentally and physically at the end of every game. Anything less than their best effort would be unacceptable. As usual, his animated speech inspired the team and for the rest of the summer they played at a higher level. 

Whether it be on or off the field, Orzy lived his life 'exhausted.' He had a passion for life that was contagious. Orzy loved his players and they loved him back. Thanks for everything you taught us 'Coach' ... we will never forget you.
