LAPEER EAST FOOTBALL ALUMNI NEWSLETTER- WINTER 2009

 

      The Lapeer East Football Alumni Association was formed to provide support for the football program at Lapeer East.  That support depends on the hard work of its members through fundraisers and dues. While our first year was a huge success with fundraising, our membership fell far short of our first year goal.  Our hope was that former players would join the association and provide an annual revenue stream that could be used to elevate the football program at Lapeer East to a program that contends for a league championship and makes the playoffs annually.  We express our sincere thanks to those who did join this year and encourage them to “spread the word” so our next newsletter has an entire page devoted to the membership list. Applications can be requested by emailing the treasurer at sammccpa@yahoo.com.  We hope you enjoy this first newsletter.

Below you will find a list of sponsors from last year’s golf outing.  Please be sure to mention a word of thanks to each that you may encounter during the year.  We would like to also thank the Lake Inn for hosting a “Draft Party” last spring that raised $900 for the association. Thanks to Nutrition Matters, LLC for sponsoring a motivational sign for the weight room. Thanks to “Jazzy” Jeff W. for organizing the 2008 Golf outing.  Finally, a BIG thanks (no pun intended, well maybe) to Jake Long and his family for helping to make the 2008 golf outing a HUGE (can’t help myself) success.   

 

Financial Report

 

The association’s first year was a great success financially.  The golf outing provided an influx of funds for first year head coach Jake Weingartz to start to build his football program. The association was able to purchase weight equipment, video equipment, field benches for the players; provided funds to help expand the coaching staff, and sponsored an occasional pre-game meal.  Also, each varsity player received a commemorative hat as a gift from the association.
