Minor Game Recaps -

Game 9 5/13/09 .vs. Braves:  Braves make late surge to defeat Reds 6-4.   The Reds got going early scoring four runs in the first two innings.   The bats fell silent over the last three innings as the Reds failed to score.  

Micah Shepard and Will Crossland did a fine job pitching for the Reds.   Some timely hitting coupled with some miscues in the field by the Reds aided the Braves four running inning in the third inning.   The Braves tacked on two more in the fourth.    Time expired in the 5th inning with the home team Braves at bat.  

The Reds get another chance at the Braves on Saturday morning with the game time at 9 a.m. 

Game 8 5/07/09 .vs. Indians:  Reds bats come alive to pace team to victory over Indians 8-3.   The Reds bats woke up Thursday night to crank out 8 runs on 6 hits while drawing 4 walks.   Micah Shepard led the Reds hitting attack with 2 hits.  Will Crossland and Peyton White each had a double for the Reds while Tanner Wagner and Jonathan Thompson picked up a single apiece.  

Defensively the Reds were a bit sluggish committing four errors in the field.  Colin Carrone made an outstanding play catching a ball in foul territory with bases full of Indians.   Max Mehaffy and Will Crossland pitched for the Reds.

Game 7 5/04/09 .vs. Indians:  Micah Shepard tosses masterpiece in victory over Indians 3-1.   Micah Shepard pitched a seven inning complete game giving up only one run while scattering four hits and striking out two batters.  The Reds defense did an outstanding job in the field and committed zero errors.   Colin Carrone did an outstanding job filling in at catcher and Will Crossland made several nice plays at second base. 

The Reds bats were relatively quite again picking up only 6 hits and scoring 3 runs.   John Michael Ekdahl led the way with two hits.   Max Mehaffy hit a clutch double in the 7th inning to score John Michael Ekdahl and Peyton White for the go ahead runs.  Tanner Wagner also had a key two out double in the third inning to score Jonathan Thompson.   Will Crossland and Cameron Colbert also had a hit each for the Reds.

Game 6 4/30/09 .vs. Sox:  Max Mehaffy dashes home to secure Reds win 4-3.   Max Mehaffy made a daring dash to home plate to score on a sacrifice fly from his brother Mike Mehaffy for the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning Thursday night versus the Sox. 

The Reds bats were relatively quite most of the game only collecting eight hits.   Leading hitters for the Reds were Mike Mehaffy and Jonathan Thompson with two hits each.   Tanner Wagner, Max Mehaffy, Peyton White, and Will McConnell also had base hits for the Reds. 

Max Mehaffy and Micah Shepard pitched three very good innings each for the Reds allowing five hits, striking out six batters while issueing only one walk!  

Game 5 4/27/09 .vs. Sox:  Reds hang on to win 11-8.   The Reds built up an 11-5 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning.   The Sox battled back to make the game 11-8 and had bases loaded when the Reds secured the last out.   The Reds hitting attack was led by Peyton White, Colin Carrone, JT Thompson, John Michael Ekdahl, and Micah Shepard.   All in all, the Reds pounded out 14 hits in 6 innings. 

Micah Shepard and Will Crossland pitched for the Reds in the victory.

Game 4 4/23/09 .vs. Cardinals:   Reds come back to win 7-5.   The Reds battled back from a 1 run deficit going into bottom of the sixth inning to emerge with a 7-5 victory as time expired.   Will Crossland got the hitting started in the clinching inning with a triple.  Tanner Wagner, Colin Carrone, and John Michael Ekdahl also contributed with key hits in the inning.

Micah Shepard pitched well to get the victory for the Reds.

Game 3 4/20/09 .vs. Cardinals:   Reds play well in 9-2 win.    Max Mehaffy pitched a complete game over 6 innings holding the Cardinals to only 3 hits while striking out 6.   He also only yielded 2 walks.   The Reds were strong defensively with strong performances turned in by Micah Shepard at SS and JT Thompson at 2B. 

Offensively, the Reds pounded out 8 hits and drew 4 walks.  Colin Carrone and Peyton White paced the attack getting two hits each.   Tanner Wagner did an outstanding job batting in the 2nd slot getting one hit and drawing two base on balls and scoring two runs.    Cameron Colbert, Mike Mehaffy, and Jonathan Thompson also collected hits for the Reds.    Sean Connelly also drew a walk and scored a run for the Reds.

Game 1 4/14/09 .vs. Athletics:   Reds win 5-4 in dramatic fashion.   The Reds minor team fell behind the Athletics 4-0 in the first two innings.   However, they did not give up and battled back to score 4 runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game.   The Reds faced a stiff test with outstanding pitching from the Athletics until the bottom of the 7th inning when with two outs, JT Thompson walked and was replaced by pinch runner Will Crossland.   Two pitches later, Will was standing on third after stealing 1st and 2nd.  Will raced home on a wild pitch to score the winning run.  

Max Mehaffy and Micah Shepard provided solid pitching for the Reds.   Cameron Colbert and Colin Carrone were the leading hitters for the team.   Mike Mehaffy was the defensive ace for the Reds behind the plate only allowing one passed ball and throwing out a runner at third.   The Reds are back in action on Friday night against the Athletics.
