Umpires

·        Home plate umpires are paid through your entry fees.

·        The Home plate umpire has the authority to eject any player or fan from the softball complex.  Ejections will be reviewed by the board.

o   Ex. Arguing with umpires or other players, swearing, throwing bats, drinking and smoking on the field!

·        Your team manager or coach is the only person who can speak with the umpires about rules or explanations of calls on the field!  Must have a discussion in a civil manner!

·        Home plate umpire has the final decision on calls he may overrule a field ump if he thinks necessary!

·        Umpires are not allowed to heckle players!  That goes for field umpires to!

·        Teams that do not provide a field umpire will be given a $50 fine.  If your teams receives a fine they will not be allowed to play their next game till the fine is paid!  The money from fines will be split between the two home plate umpires.

Time Limit

·        All games will have a one hour time limit!

·        Umpires will keep the official time!

·        No teams will be allowed to start a new inning after your game has gone one hour.

·        If you start an inning before the one hour time limit arrives and the one hour time limit is reached during that inning you may still finish that inning.  Unless the home team is batting and ahead.  Then the game will be called final.

·        No exceptions to this rule!  Not even the last game of the night!

·        Games that are a tie after the one hour time limit and inning has been played out will result in a tie!  No coin flips that will be the last resort for tournament seeding!

Score Books

·        Each team must keep a score sheet for their team and also their opponent!

·        If you fail to keep a score sheet for your team and your opponent you will be issued a forfeit and loss for that game!  If both teams fail to keep score you both will be issued a loss!

·        Score sheets need to be turned into the home plate umpire at the end of the game or a forfeit and loss will be issued!

·        I will keep the scores sheets so I can post scores and records on the website below.  I will give the score sheet back to you the following week if you wish to keep it.

·        Score sheets must have player correct batting order on them.  You may just keeps runs, but the board would appreciate it if you kept track of out of the park home runs!  Which I will explain later.

Rosters

·        Regular players and subs may only be on one roster and only play for that team!  No sharing players this year!

·        You may add a player to your roster up until July 10th.  Let me know and I will add them for you.

·        A player is allowed to switch teams with the board’s approval only, but both coaches of the teams involved have to agree on the roster change.

·        All players who want to play in the league tournament must play in at least 3 games to be eligible to play in the tournament!

·        Teams must play with 7 men and 3 women!  You may use extra women to fill in for men but may not use extra men to fill in for women!

·        An out is issued for every woman you are short.  The spot in which you take the out is up to the coach of the team that is short.  The out has to be taken in one of the Female spots on the score sheet and also has to be declared before the game starts.

·        Teams must have at least 8 players at the start of the game to prevent a forfeit!

·        Players who arrive after the game starts must bat last in the order unless it is a woman then she will bat in whatever woman spot you left open.

·        All teams will use the same lineup order: M F M M M F M M F M

·        In order to bat extra batters you must have a 4th woman to prevent batting 3 men in a row, twice in the order!

·        Teams may only bat 10 batters an inning.  Except the last inning: batters, runs, and home runs are unlimited!

·        You may use a pinch runner for injured an injured player.  The pinch runner will be the last person to get an out.  Injured player may return to the field!

·        Starting players may be subbed for and then reenter the field of play!  No tricky stuff here this is for the purpose of getting all players a chance to play!  Umpires will be watching for anything out of the ordinary.  Like trying to get your power hitters up every inning or something along that line.

Pitching

·        Same as last year between 6’ and 12’

·        If a male is walked that has a female batter batting behind him.  The female batter is given the choice of a free walk or she may choose to hit.

·        Plate and mat are ruled a strike, including the black edge of the plate.

·        Pitchers are allowed only three warm up pitches then the game starts.

Homeruns

·        Teams are allowed 2 homeruns per inning

·        After 2 in the inning it will be considered a single but runners will only advance if they are forced. It’s your responsibility to get your own homeruns!

Balls

·        You may only use the balls that the league has bought ( .40 core Worth Grey Dot)

·        If you run out I may have extra that you can purchase

·        All softball bats may be used in 2009

·        In 2010 your bat must have the ASA stamp to be legal.  Just a warning to quit buying illegal bats!

o   Male outfielders may not cross this line until the pitch has left the pitchers hand.
