Coach Bicko grew up playing basketball and baseball. Had scholarship offers for basketball at Mercyhurst University, Houghton College, and Duquesne University. Declined all offers to pursue a nine month missionary internship, working in an orphanage in Port-de-Paix, Haiti. After completing his internship, Ian moved to Mobile, AL to attend the University of South Alabama. Double majoring in Political Science and International Studies; Ian is currently a part time student. It was at South Alabama that he really found his love for volleyball. It started as playing pickup games at the rec center and then turned into organizing a club team along with fellow storm coaches: Jacob Sander and JD Hamilton. The South Alabama Men's Club Volleyball team traveled around much of the south; competing against teams from LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Central Florida. After two years of organized club  experience a coaching position at Davidson High school was extended to Ian, and he jumped at the chance. Ian sees coaching volleyball as a true passion, something outside of himself, and a way to be a positive role model to each player he coaches.
Ian's primary goal this season is to instill a fire/passion for excellence (both on and off the court) in his players as they prepare for college. "I want to change the way the players see the game on the court. Increase their i.q. by asking, not telling. I want each of them to grow into humble, coachable players that can be leaders on the court at the next level."
