For the second year in a row, a Bombers player had the game winning RBI for the Red All-Star Team. Last year, Jacob hit a bases loaded walk-off single to break a tie in extra innings to end the game in a 15-14 win for the Red All-Stars. This year, Michael broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the 4th with a bases clearing double to give the Red All-Stars a 4-1 lead in a game that they would ultimately win in 7 innings by a 14-5 score. In total, our Bombers drove in 9 of the 14 runs scored by the Red All-Stars. Parker reached base in all 4 plate appearance, with 2 singles, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch to go along with 2 RBIs. Nick and Michael had identical line scores on the game: each went 2 for 3 at the plate with a bases loaded double, a single, a walk, 3 RBIs and a run scored. Bennett went 2 for 3 with 2 singles, an RBI and a run scored.
In the field, Bennett had 3 assists, including a great play in left field to end a bases loaded rally by the Blue All-Stars by fielding a line drive in left and throwing to 2nd base to force the lead runner and take away what would have been a base hit. Michael recorded a fine putout in right field on a high fly ball in which he had to go back several steps in order to make the play. Nick ended the game in the bottom of the 7th with a great assist in left by throwing out the batter at 3rd base who was attempting to stretch a bases loaded double into a triple.
Michael pitched a strong 2nd inning for the Red All-Stars. He gave up only 1 run on 1 hit and 3 walks to go along with 2 strikeouts. Bennett closed the game with a solid 7th inning by giving up only 2 runs on 1 hit, 2 walks, and a hit batsman. He also had 1 strikeout in the inning.

2007 Ballwin All-Star Representatives:
All-Star Game: Jacob Miller, Michael Hojnacki, Bennett Hacala

In the All Star game, Michael and Jacob were placed on the Red Team, while Bennett was placed on the Blue Team.  In a great game that saw several lead changes and ultimately went into extra innings, the Red Team rallied for 4 runs on the bottom of the 8th inning to win 14-13.  Jacob Miller delivered the game winning RBI in the bottom of the 8th for the Red Team with a bases loaded single to end the game.  Just prior to Jacob’s hit, Michael kept the inning alive with a single off the pitching machine to load the bases.  Michael also went 4-4 with a double and an RBI in the game.  For the Blue Team, Bennett went 3-4 with a double and 4 RBIs.  All three boys made some great defensive plays to help their teams as well.  Congratulations to Jacob, Michael and Bennett!
FYI…The star of the game was Matt Perego from the Titans (Ditto).  Many of our Bombers are friends with Matt, and play baseball and football with him.  Matt hit a Grand Slam over the center field wall in the bottom of the 3rd inning to give the Red Team an 8-6 lead.  Matt later tied the game at 13-13 in the bottom of the 8th inning with his second home run of the game – a 2 run shot over the center field fence, which was then followed up by Jacob’s game winning heroics a few batters later.
