Greensboro, NC
Temekia Morton has been named Vice President of the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL). Ms. Morton’s initial role with the WBCBL began in 2007 as a league consultant and advisor to WBCBL Founder and President, Mr. Willie McCray. “Her expertise in women’s sports has helped guide the development of the WBCBL for many years. Her dedication and outstanding level of faith has been essential to the WBCBL’s spiritual aspect as well. We are very blessed to have such a firm believer in Christ that displays genuine care and leadership.”
As a former college coach and scout of female athletes, Ms. Morton understands firsthand the wide chasm that exists between these athletes and the career opportunities available to them in the US. Ms. Morton is the Founder of the Women’s Basketball Showcase, an organization to educate girls and women about domestic and international opportunities that exist for female basketball athletes post-graduation. She also established a semi-professional women’s basketball team in Greensboro, NC as an international touring team, USA Elite, which later joined and is still a member of the WBCBL. Ms. Morton believed that her vision for assisting former athletes was shared by Mr. McCray.
Ms. Morton is the owner and General Manager of USA Elite. She has also served as Regional Director of the Carolinas Region in the WBCBL for the last several years. Ms. Morton looks forward to her new role as Vice President and hopes to continue to assist players pursuing a career in basketball post-graduation.
