Pitching Rules – 13U PeeWee Division
WABA league play, WABA playoffs & MBA Provincial Championships – 13U Pee Wee Division
1) Any player on the team is eligible to pitch, and there are no restrictions to the number of pitchers a manager may use in a game.
2) Pitchers shall be permitted to have 2 appearances in the same calendar day. If a pitcher requires a rest following the 1st appearance, they may not
return the same calendar day.
3)
Pitchers are
not permitted to pitch on 3 consecutive days unless a pitcher’s first 2 days combined does not exceed 30 pitches
If the pitcher’s day 1 and
day 2 pitches exceed 30 they require a minimum of one day’s rest.
4)
Pitchers and managers shall follow the Pitch Chart Guidelines (below).
5) The home team scorekeeper will calculate the total pitches thrown and enter the number of pitches thrown by each pitcher on the game sheet that is sent to the convenor. It shall be the responsibility of the 2 scorekeepers to agree on the official pitch count.
6) An Official Scorekeeper shall be appointed for MBA Championships and shall be responsible for pitch count records. Pitch counts will be posted at the Championship.
7) Once a player assumes the position of pitcher, they may not catch for the remainder of the day.
8) Pitchers will be permitted to finish the batter if their maximum pitch limit has been reached for that calendar day.
9) Intentional walks will be included in pitch totals.
10) Required rest shall be defined in “days” starting at 12:01 AM and ending at 11:59 PM of the next calendar day. If a game continues past 12:01 AM, those pitches are counted as if pitched prior to midnight. If a game is suspended, when it resumes it is defined as a different day.
11) A pitcher who is removed from the mound during the game shall not be permitted to return to pitch in the same game even if the pitcher is retained in the game in another position.
12)
The manager or coach may make a 2
nd visit to the mound while the same batter is at bat in order to remove the pitcher from the game.
13) It is the responsibility of Team Management to adhere to the pitch count regulations. This is a safety issue. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in both forfeiture of the game and suspension of Team personnel.
