Greysox Win At Akron

The Greysox kept their half-game lead in the State Line with a win at Akron Wednesday night. The game was tied 4-4 in the top of the 8th when Jon Merrigan hit a 2 run home run to right field and gave the lead back to the Sox for good 6-4.
Jamie Jorgensen started on the hill for the Greys, going 6 innings with 7 strikeouts with only one walk all night. He gave up seven hits but only 2 runs during this time were earned. Lance Kotter would get the win in relief. Kotter entered the game in the seventh and did not allow a run or walk and striking out five.
Akron was led offensively by Tanner Bundy, who was 3-4 with 3 singles. Levi Koehler and Noah Bohlman each chipped in a double. Bohlman and Jeff Verzal each added an RBI for the Rebels. Vermillion’s Jayce Huska and Tanner Anderson were both 2-5. Jon Merrigan had three RBI and Jay Thaler added one RBI as well.
The Greysox will be at home on Friday July 8 as they host the Canton Aces at 7:30pm in State Line League play. Akron plays Sunday at Garretson, 2pm.
