FAQ – About the EA SPORTS Madden Professional Tournaments and Championship Series
Who is eligible to participate in sanctioned Madden Championship Series (MCS) events?
Residents of the United States of America, Canada (including Quebec), Mexico, Germany, and the United Kingdom who are 16 years or older and meet all other eligibility requirement defined in the official tournament rules. Minors must be physically accompanied by an adult at sanctioned MCS events.
Which console platforms can I compete on to qualify for the EA Majors and Madden Championship?
Xbox One and Playstation 4.
What are Madden Championship Series (MCS) Points?
MCS points are your ticket to the Madden NFL 18 Championship. They are awarded to a competitor based on their highest achievement within each EA Major (including Challenger Events, Online Elimination, or the Live Finals of an EA Major). The better your finish, the more points you earn and the greater chance you have of scoring a piece of the $500,000 prize pool.
Is there any other way to qualify for the Madden NFL 18 Championship?
The top two finishers at each EA Major (for a total of six) will receive an automatic berth to the Madden NFL 18 Championship regardless of their final MCS Point total.
How many MCS Points do I need to qualify for the Madden Championship?
In addition to the six automatic berths, the next ten highest MCS point totals will be invited to the Madden Championship. There is not a set threshold of points required and rough estimates of that threshold will be easier to project after each EA Major.
What are the Madden game modes for each EA Major?
Each EA Major will use only one game mode starting in the Online Elimination round through the culmination of the competition. The following games modes will be used:
Madden Classic - Head 2 Head Online or equivalent (Play Now is the local play mode that does not require an internet connection)
Madden Challenge - MUT Draft (formerly Draft Champions)
Madden NFL Club Championship - MUT Salary Cap
Madden Championship - MUT Salary Cap
What are the stages of advancement within an EA Major?
Each EA Major will have a slightly different qualification structure. There are several common components to each structure.
Ranked Online Ladder - The start of most journeys is to compete online versus the world and see how you are rated. Advancement to an EA Major usually requires an Elite ranking (red border).
Online Elimination - After advancing from the ladder, competitors will be seeded into an elimination track and pitted against their peers in single elimination and group stage formats.
Challenger Events - Challenges events are great opportunities to train, socialize, and compete for real world stakes. All competitors who attend Challenger events guarantee themselves MCS Points and have the opportunity to skip through several rounds of Online Elimination.
Live Finals - The big show! Only the best of the best make it this far and compete for fame and fortune. Making a Live Finals puts a competitor in a very strong standing to qualify for the Madden Championship.
How many Ranked Ladder qualification periods are there for the EA Majors and when are they?
Season 1 - Madden Classic (August 21 through October 2) and Madden NFL Club Championship (August 21 through October 16).
Season 2 - Madden Challenge (October 16 through November 27)
What is provided if I qualify for the Live Finals of an EA Major?
EA will provide finalists with roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations as expressly written in each ruleset. For specific details on length of stay and travel arrangements, please review the official rules for each EA Major. Travel and accommodations will also be provide to a guardian of an eligible competitor who is under the age of 18 (e.g. 16 or 17).
Every competitor who qualifies for a Live Finals will receive a cash prize as long as they attend the competition in person and fulfill all obligations around the competition.
How can I attend a live MCS event?
A limited number of tickets will be available for each EA Major. If you are interested in securing a ticket, visit the Madden Classic, Madden Challenge, or Madden NFL Club Championship event pages for more details.
How do I get an event sanctioned as a Challenger or Premier Event?
There are several requirements that interested tournament organizers must follow in order to be eligible for sanctioning. For a complete list, please contact maddenleagueops@ea.com
When is the deadline to register for the Madden NFL 18 Club Championship by opting in to one of the 32 NFL Clubs?
Monday, October 2nd by 3pm PST
If I register for a club to compete in the Madden NFL Club Championship, can I opt out and switch clubs?
For the integrity of the competition, requests to switch clubs during the registration and qualification process of the Club Championship event will NOT be accepted.
If I win a Challenger Event, can I participate in another?
Only a competitor's highest finish in a Challenger Event will be recognized in the Madden Classic and Madden Challenge qualification process. As a result, if you win a Challenger Event in either qualification period, you will not be eligible to participate in another one that coincides with the same EA Major.
Enhancing feedback with Performance Analysis
Accurate and timely feedback is critical within the coaching process in professional sporting environments and has driven the uptake of performance analysis systems.
Two-dimensional video-analysis systems enable both player and coach to review performance numerous times after the event, reducing observer bias and increasing the quality and accuracy of information, as well as providing numerous options for feedback provision.
Performance analysis feedback may be quantitative through the application of statistical analysis of team and player performance, or qualitative through the use of video and relate to technical (passing game, blocking etc.), tactical, observation, (‘game sense’, decision-making, concentration, emotional state) and physical (movement, work-rate) aspects of performance.
The effect of feedback may not always be positive and player skill level must be considered. To facilitate improvements in performance, skilled players require more detailed feedback than those less skilled, however there is a balancing act, since if feedback is too detailed performance can be negatively affected.
Skill level and experience also influences a player’s ability to interpret two-dimensional video feedback as a three-dimensional image, with more experienced players better able to do so.

Player- Organization of team players and position,use Analysis for best possible outcome of game.
Franchise Fee $450.00 Limited Franchise number of 10 organization for 2018 season
Championship Award- $1,500 money awarded in the form of Grant Funds to selected teams to be used for operating expenses, equipment, uniforms, etc.
MVP Offense- MVP Defense and Coach of the Year- Best Owner awards
Owner's are asked to have some showmanship to help develop fan support for their respective organization.
