Opening Weeks
Posted June 3, 2019

The first two weeks of the SWBL season have seen the defending champion Boissevain Centennials continue their dominance over the South Division as their 4-1 record is already good enough for a two game lead over the rest of the pack. The Cents have been led by Josh Wood, who, as of Sunday, June 2nd, holds or shares the league lead in hits (10), doubles (3), and RBI (8).
Boissevain's lone loss on the season has come at the hands of the North Division leading Hamiota Red Sox (4-1). Cole Allen has paced the team with a .375 average while Brady Waddell leads the league with a 3-0 record on the mound.
The lone remaining undefeated team in 2019 is the Rivers Comets (3-0). After defeating the Elkhorn Expos (1-4) 11-5 in their opener, the Comets pitching has been near perfect, shutting out both the Virden Oilers (3-2) and Wawanesa Brewers (1-4). Incredibly, Rivers has yet to surrender an earned run, as all four of their pitchers hold identical 0.00 ERAs.
Week three is a relatively light week in the league with just 9 games scheduled, but it will busy for the undefeated Comets as they will take the field in 4 of those 9.
