Posted April 27, 2017
The 2017 SWBL schedule has been released with opening day landing on Tuesday, May 23. The Rivers Comets will make their SWBL debut at home against the defending champion Virden Oilers.
The league is once again divided into two divisions. The South Division remains the same with Boissevain, Deloraine, Souris, Hartney and the 2016 provincial champion Wawanesa Brewers. The North Division increases to six teams with the Rivers Comets joining Virden, Oak River, Hamiota, Reston and Elkhorn.
Teams will once again play a home and home series within the division and cross over to play each team of the other division one time. An uneven number of teams within the divisions will see the North Division teams play 15 games while teams from the South play only 14.
