Ptarmigans rout Polars 28-0 in the 62nd Snobowl

With temperatures around -5 at game time the Ptarmigans and Polars took the field for the 62nd time.  The Polars came into the series leading 32-18 with 11 ties. However, the Ptarmigans had won 3 of the last 5 meetings and started off hot on the frozen tundra of Memorial Park.  Current owners of the Ptarmigans are Evan Beranek, Alex Eide, and Ben Buthe.  Polar owners are Ryan Haugen, Zack Shetka and Zack Dubanoski.

On one of the first plays of the game Ptarmigan Quarterback Chad Skluzacek would launch a long pass that would be tipped in the air and somehow was pulled in by Austin Weinandt putting the Ptarmigans into scoring position.  A couple of plays later Kevin Korbel would scamper around the left end for the first touchdown of the game and the route would be on.

The Ptarmigan defensive came out strong led by linebackers Michael Coldagelli and Chase Buthe.  Polar Quarterback Ryan Haugen struggled to find receivers and Polar running backs Zack Shetka and Ryan Puncochar couldn’t find anything on the ground.  Haugen would throw several interceptions during the game including 3 to Weinandt and 2 more to Michael Eide.

The Ptarmigan Offensive Line that consisted of Evan Beranek, Tony Beranek, Darrel Christianson, Paul Frykman and Brady Loose.  They had their hands full but did a great job of blocking some ferocious defensive linemen such as Jason Haugen, Zack Dubanoski and Zach Sirek.  The Ptarmigans would score 3 more times in the first half.  Veteran Neil Fischer would haul in a pass from Skluzacek to put the Ptarmigans up 12-0.  Korbel would run another touchdown in followed by a two point conversion pass to Weinandt.  James Fuerniss would catch the final touchdown pass which would be followed by a successful two point conversion to Korbel.

Towards the end of the game the Ptarmigans tried a little trickery that would be ruled illegal.  The center Paul Frykman snapped the ball to Skluzacek but then Frkyman kept the ball.  He rumbled 30 yards for a touchdown however the refs thew a flag and ruled it an illegal fumbleruski since the ball never touched the ground.  Frykman would earn the GOAT award for this illegal play.

During the awards ceremony the Chad Skluzacek earned Offesnive MVP, Michael Eide Defensive MVP, Carter Vaughan Rookie of the Year, Paul Frkyman Goat, Nick Schoenecker Lineman of the Year and Austin Weinandt overall MVP.  Paul Frkyman was inducted into the Snobowl Hall of Fame, joining 29 other Alumni, for his play on the field throughout the last 2 decades as well as his leadership in promoting the game.  More information about the game can be found at ballcharts.com/snobowl
