Posted December 28, 2014
Once again the annual game between the Polars and Ptarmigan was a success. Over 40 New Prague Alumni showed up to do battle for the 55th time. Conditions were perfect with a few inches of fresh snow on the ground and the temperature around 30 degrees.
The first half of the Sno-Bowl was dominated by the Polars who jumped out to an early 22-0 lead. On the first play of the game Ptarmigan quarterback Chad Skluzacek was intercepted by Mike Sticha. Nolan Pumper quarterbacked for the Polars and connected for three touchdowns to Neil Fisher, Tony Kubes and Aaron Kes. In the second half of the game the Ptarmigans scored twice on handoffs to Mike Romig and the game ended 22-12.
The game featured an onside kick believed to be the first one in the 55 year history. After the game Bobby Kriha, Pete Kartak, Ron Schoenecker, and Eric Steinhoff were inducted into the Sno-Bowl Hall of Fame.
Earning awards this year were Nolan Pumper MVP, Mike Romig Offensive Player of the Year, Mike Sticha Defensive Player of the Year, Kyle Briggs Lineman of the Year, Rookie of the Year went to Matt Ambroz and Nick Schoenecker was the Goat.
