Royals Sweep Final Weekend of Regular Season
Sunday, July 27th- The Royals finished up the regular season strong with a 4-0 weekend in the Interior to bring their season record to 17-18.  On Saturday the club took on West Kelowna and dominated both ends of the double-header, winning by scores of 8-2 and 11-1.  In the first game, Seth Injates struck out 13 batters to pick up the win.  On Sunday the team traveled to Penticton to take on the South Okanagan Tigers.  The bats stayed hot for the Royals as they won the first game 10-4 and completed the sweep with a 7-6 win.  The team will now take a couple of days of practice before heading to Victoria on Wednesday to take part in the Provincial Championships which start on Thursday.

Royals Fall to Vancouver
Friday, July 25th- Last night the Royals had a chance to not only clinch a Provincial berth heading in to the last weekend of the season, but also clinch at least 6th spot in the league.  However, the team squandered a few opportunities in losing to Vancouver 4-3.  With the win, Vancouver has now clinched a spot in Provincials, along with Chilliwack, Richmond, Kamloops, and Tri-Cities.  The Royals have five games remaining in the regular season, which includes completing a suspended game on Sunday against South Okanagan.  One win will give the Royals a Provincials berth, while two will clinch the 5th spot in the standings.

Third Royal Added to Select Camp
Monday, July 21st- Congratulations to Royals' catcher/infielder Brayden Slaughter who has been named to the Select camp taking place this week.  Brayden joins Ben Stadnik and Seth Injates who have already been named.  Good luck to all three boys!

Royals Go 2-2 on Weekend
Sunday, July 13th- The Ridge Meadows Royals split a 4-game weekend on the road, taking their record to 13-16 on the season.  On Saturday they traveled to Kamloops to take on the Riverdogs.  It was a long day for the boys as they dropped both games by scores of 8-2 and 10-5.  On Sunday the squad took on the Cloverdale Spurs, one of the teams chasing them in the standings.  Chris Bailey had a very solid outing in the first game, allowing only an unearned run en route to an 8-1 win.  The strong pitching continued in the latter game, as Seth Injates pitched the team to a 4-2 victory, falling only one out short of a complete game due to the pitch count rules.  The Royals will take on the first place Chilliwack Cougars on Wednesday before preparing for a very busy final week of the regular season which will see them play five games in five days to finish up league play.

Two Royals Named to Select Camp
Friday, July 11th- Congratulations to CF Ben Stadnik and RHP/SS Seth Injates who have both been named to the 3-day camp that will be used to select the team that will travel to Magog, Quebec to take part in the Midget National Championships.  The camp will run from July 22 - 24 in Chilliwack.  Good luck to both players!

Injates Named to 16U Select Team
Sunday, June 29th - Congratulations to Royals' pitcher/shortstop Seth Injates, who has been named to the 16U select team that will travel to Northern California this week to participate in a CABA tournament that takes place July 2nd - 6th. 

3 Royals Named to League All-Star Game
Wednesday, June 17th - Three members of the Ridge Meadows Royals has been selected to participate in the Midget AAA All-Star Game this Saturday in Chilliwack.  Centre fielder Ben Stadnik, pitcher/shortstop Seth Injates, and second baseman Kyron Smith were all chosen as representatives of the Royals.  The game will be used not only as a showcase of the league's talent, but also as an evaluation for the Select Team coaching staff to help name the team that will be taking part in the Midget National Championships in August.  In addition, three more Royals have been selected to take part in the evaluation process prior to the All-Star Game that will also be used to evaluate for the Select Team.  These players are corner infielder Nick Peters, catcher/infielder Tristan Reed, and catcher/infielder Brayden Slaughter.  Congratulations and good luck to all six players.
 

ROYALS WIN COQUITLAM 18U WOOD BAT TOURNAMENT

Monday, June 9th - The Ridge Meadows Royals won a slugfest over Mount Seymour on Monday in the Coquitlam 18U Wood Bat Tournament final, walking away with a 18-11 victory.  The Royals gave up seven runs in first inning but were nearly unstoppable at the plate, led by Brayden Slaughter who had five hits in the game.

The Royals started on a good note on Saturday, defeating the Tri-City Indians after losing three consecutive games to the club in league play.  On Sunday the Royals split a pair of games, defeating Whalley before losing a tight 3-2 game to Coquitlam.  The 2-1 record was enough to win their pool and qualify for the tournament final, which will be held on Monday night at 7pm at Blue Mountain.  Their opponent will be Mount Seymour.

Royals Split Double-Header in Vancouver
Friday, June 1st - After dropping their third straight game against Tri-City earlier this week by a score of 7-1, the Ridge Meadows Royals split a double-header in Vancouver on Saturday.  The first game saw a pitcher's dual with the Mounties coming out on top of a 3-2 score.  The later game saw both offences come to life with the Royals reaching double-digits in runs en route to a 12-6 victory.  The Royals now sit in 5th place of the 10 team league with an 8-11 record.  The club will host Cloverdale this Wednesday at Albion before taking part in the Coquitlam A's tournament next weekend.

Coquitlam Tournament Draw Released
Friday, May 30th - The draw for the Coquitlam Little League Wood Bat Tournament (June 6 - 9) has been released.  The tournament format is a three-game round robin with the winner of each pool playing in the championship.  The Royals will open the tournament on Saturday June 7th with a 10am game against Midget AAA rivals the Tri-City Indians.  They will then play a double-header on Sunday June 8th at 3pm vs Whalley and 5:30pm vs Coquitlam.  The tournament final will take place on Monday June 9th at 8pm.

Royals Win 2 of 3 on Weekend
Sunday, May 25th - The Royals improved their record to 7-9 in league play by winning a pair of games this weekend against only one loss.  On Saturday the club split a pair of games with the second-place Kamloops Riverdogs.  In the first game, Ben Stadnik, making his first start of the season, was very strong in leading the team to a 3-1 win.  The club held a 7-2 lead in the second game before the Riverdogs chipped away and completed the comeback, holding on for a 9-7 win.  On Sunday the Royals hosted the Vancouver Mounties for what was supposed to be a double-header.  However, the rain began prior to game time and did not let up, leading to a rain-shortened game one and the postponement of game two.  In the only game of the day, the Mounties jumped out to an early lead with a grand-slam in the first inning.  The Royals came back to take a lead and held on to win by a score of 8-7.  Vancouver had the tying run on third base in the last inning but were unable to push it across.  The Royals will host the Tri-City Indians on Wednesday before travelling to Vancouver next Saturday for a double-header.
 

Royals Snap 7-Game Losing Streak
Sunday, May 11th - The Royals finally ended their losing streak where it began, against the Richmond Chuckers.  The first game of the day saw a close contest which went to extra innings.  The Chuckers were able to get the lead-off man on in the 8th inning and scored the eventual winning run to take the game by a score of 3-2.  The second game of the day saw Richmond jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning only to see Ridge put up a 4-spot in the 3rd inning to take the lead.  The Chuckers tied it up but with two men on in the bottom of the 7th, Miggy Norquist drove a ball to the gap to win the game.  Seth Injates started on the hill for the Royals and was sharp after some bumps early.  Ridge Meadows now holds a 5-7 record as they look to build off their latest win.  Next up for the Royals is a home date on Wednesday with the Chilliwack Cougars.  The Royals will be looking for some revenge after being humiliated by the Cougars 11-1 two weeks ago.  First pitch goes at 7pm.

Royals Drop Below .500 After Pair of Losses on Island

Sunday, May 4th - The Royals dropped a pair of games Sunday in Victoria by scores of 4-0 and 4-3 to fall below the .500 mark for the first time this season.  After starting the season 4-0, the club has now dropped five straight to sit at 4-5 at the quarter mark of the season.  The Royals' offence, which carried them through the early part of the season, has struggled of late, leading to the struggles.  The team will try to get back on the winning track this Wednesday as they host the Tri-City Indians at Albion.  First pitch goes at 7pm.

Royals Take 3 of 4 Over Weekend, Improve to 4-1
After a 10-day lay-off following their season-opening win over Cloverdale, the Royals returned to league play this past weekend with a pair of double-headers.  On Saturday the club hosted the Victoria Selects on what proved to be a very wet and cold day.  The games would likely not have been played had Victoria not traveled to play the games, and the conditions led to some poor ball as neither team was particularly sharp.  The Royals took the first game by a score of 7-6 and trailed the second game 5-1 before rallying to secure a 9-8 win in a game that was shortened to six innings due to the field conditions.  On Sunday the club traveled to Richmond for their first road games of the young season.  Despite the fact that the weather was much better than the previous day, the scores remained high as the Royals took the first game 12-9 before dropping the finale 7-5.  The Royals are back at it this week as they will travel to Tri-City on Wednesday night to take on their arch-rivals, the Tri-City Indians.  First pitch goes at 7pm.

Royals Win Season Opener 9-0

On Wednesday night, the Royals opened their 2014 regular season campaign with a home game against the defending Provincial champion Cloverdale Spurs.  Chris Bailey took the ball for the Royals and was solid from start to finish, needing only 84 pitches in throwing a complete game shutout.  The Royals received a balanced offensive attack and were able to steal numerous bases to help their cause.  The Royals will now have a 10-day break from league play, during which they will play three exhibition games.
 

Royals go 2-2 at Best of the West
The Ridge Meadows Royals finally saw their first game action of the new season this weekend as they travelled to Kamloops to take part in the 'Best of the West' tournament.  After several exhibition games were rained out, the Royals were happy to get on the field and finally see some game action.

The weekend started off well on Friday morning as the club won their first game over the Okotoks Dawgs in a high-scoring affair that ended 11-10.  Due to the two hour time limit, the teams were only able to complete 5 innings.  In the second game of the day, the Royals struggled defensively and came up on the short end of a 9-6 game to the Calgary Babe Ruth team. 

On Saturday morning the Royals played the first game of the day at beautiful Norbrock Stadium.  They held the lead late in the game but were unable to finish off the RBI Cobras from Saskatchewan and fell by a final score of 5-4.  After completing the round robin portion of the tournament with a 1-2 record, the Royals faced off against the hometown Kamloops Riverdogs on Sunday in a consolation game.  In a game which reversed the trend of high-scoring contests, the Royals prevailed in 8 innings, winning 3-2. 

Overall it was a good first tournament for the club.  The coaching staff identified areas of the game which need to be addressed and were also able to gain a better understanding of each players skills and weaknesses.  The Royals will return to play 3 exhibition games this week (weather permitting) before opening their regular season on Wednesday April 9th at Albion against the Cloverdale Spurs.  First pitch goes at 7pm.

Royals to Return for 2014 Season!

After a two year hiatus, it looks as though the Ridge Meadows Royals will be returning to the Midget AAA league for the 2014 season.  The team will be guided by head coach Mack Whitford, who brings years of both playing and coaching experience in Ridge Meadows.  Mack coached the Royals from 2007 - 2009 and has spent many years coaching in RMMBA. 

The assistant coaches helping Mack will be Doug MacDermid, Andreas Irion and Patrick Bigelow.   Doug, or 'Howie' as he is most commonly known, brings years of coaching experience and was an assistant with the team from 2009 - 2011.  Andreas played for the team from 2006 - 2008 and was one of the top players to play for the team in the last decade. Patrick, or 'Bigs', played for the Royals from 2008 - 2010 and helped lead the team to a Western Canada Championship in 2009.  He was also a member of the Select Team that competed at the Midget Nationals in both 2009 and 2010, capturing a Bronze Medal in 2009. 

Former manager Nor Ljunggren will act as the general manager for the team.  The coaching staff is very excited to get started working with the players and hopes to have a very fun and successful season.  Barn sessions will begin this Sunday, January 19th, at 5pm and will continue at this time every week until the team moves outside.  If you are interested in playing or have any questions, please email rmroyals@hotmail.com.
