What are others saying about our program?

"As a college program, we truly appreciate player development from the grassroots level in our community.  For many years the Richmond Bantam AAA program has helped prepare players for the next level of baseball.  We have had numerous players from the Chuckers program come to Douglas College ready to compete against strong US competition.  As a coach I recognize their efforts in developing not only good baseball players, but in quality individuals that become contributing members of the community.  I highly recommend their program program to help open opportunities for a young player's future in the game."

Cavanagh Whitely
Head Coach
Douglas College Royals

"I have been aware for some time of the excellent work that the Richmond Bantam AAA program has been doing in the development of young baseball players.  I recently attended the Provincial Tournament and was very impressed with the calibre of play of the Richmond Chuckers team under the direction of Alex and Ryan Klenman.  Well done.  I for one appreciate it."

Ray Carter
President
Baseball Canada

"Baseball BC and the High Performance Program are only as good as the development systems of our member groups...and the Richmond Chuckers Bantam AAA is right up there amongst the best in developing young athletes and preparing them for the next level of play.  Alex and Ryan Klenman, along with their entire coaching staff, are certainly on the right path in this regard and I couldn't be happier with the work they are doing on the behalf of the athletes in their community."

David Laing
Executive Director
Baseball BC

"The Richmond Chuckers Bantam AAA program provides an excellent stepping stone for players interested in developing skills needed to play at the Premier League level.  They do a great job providing young ballplayers development opportunities through training and games that challenge players to reach their full potential.  Our experience is that players who come through the Chuckers program have the skill set, work habits and attitudes needed to be successful in the PBL."

Larry Waddell
GM - North Delta Blue Jays
BC Premier Baseball League

"I would like to take this opportunity to recommend the Richmond Bantam AAA program to all eager players in the area.  Alex and Ryan Klenman do an excellent job with their young players in preparing them for the next level.  Premier baseball is the most difficult jump for a high school player and requires total dedication and a strong work ethic of which the Klenman's teach.  They have sent numerous players to the PBL in the last ten years with many of their grads continuing on to prestige scouting events such as PNC, Arizona Fall Classic, BC Selects, College baseball and even on to the major league draft and professional baseball.  The rigorous schedule, top instruction and commitment to success bodes well for the future of any prospective player."

"I've said it before and I'll say it again, that was without a doubt Brendan's best year in baseball and you were an integral part of that for giving him an opportunity to be in Richmond.  Your passion for the game and teaching and mentoring kids at this level is unmatched.  You do a great job of instilling discipline, and preparing players for the next level."

Dale Michaloski
Parent of alumnus Brendan Michaloski (2008)

"Being with the Richmond Red Sox was the stepping stone that helped me get to where I am today.  To this day my parents tell me it was the best coaching I ever had, and I most definitely agree with them.  You always gave me a chance to make it, boosted my baseball IQ by always challenging me on and off the diamond, and even giving me the chance to instruct younger kids.  Thank you for everything, you helped me grow as a ballplayer and as a person."

"PBL teams are always looking for the best young players that want to pursue baseball as a serious commitment with the objective of a college baseball opportunity or to make the pro ranks.  Richmond's Bantam AAA program has had a number of players join various PBL teams over the years and we are confident that we will see many additional players join our league from this program.  The players from Richmond Bantam AAA always have excellent skill development and have the right attitude and drive to join PBL teams.  As such, we recognize the quality of the Chuckers program."

Ted Hotzak
President
BC Premier Baseball League

"Alex, I was really impressed with the Bantam AAA playoffs and your Richmond Chuckers.  You and your coaches are doing a great job developing the boys skills and preparing them to move up to Midget or the PBL next year.  I look forward to watching your winter workouts and the future progress of your players.  Programs like yours are vital to the development of baseball in BC and Canada.  I know a number of your former players have been successful at the next level and it looks like you have more this year that will move up and do very well in future years.  Keep up the good work."

Don Cowan
Area Scout
Toronto Blue Jays

"I played Bantam AAA for the Richmond Red Sox program under coach Alex Klenman.  It was a great experience that helped prepare me to move on to play three seasons in the Premier Baseball League.  Coach Klenman did a good job providing me with a foundation for improving my abilities through well organized practices.  The off-season training and coaching provided by the team was instrumental in not only honing my skills on the field, but also provided insight into the way high level teams in the PBL and college prepare their players.  As I progressed through the PBL and eventually to play at college and university levels, I am able to recognize that the principles and practices that Coach Klenman used when I was in Bantam are consistent with the approaches of coaches at the higher levels of baseball.   While it will always be up to the individual player to put in the work required to play at increasingly more competitive levels, playing for the Bantam AAA Red Sox provided me with the opportunity to push myself playing against a lot of talented baseball players. I credit the competitive level of play at Bantam AAA along with the preparation provided to me in the Richmond program for preparing me to advance to increasingly higher levels of baseball."

"Playing with the Richmond Red Sox (now Chuckers) was huge in making the next step to the PBL really an easy transition for me.  Ryan Klenman really worked with me on the pitching side of things.  He helped me develop three pitches that I could throw at anytime, which saved a lot of time in my development as a pitcher.  Also the number of innings I got really helped my confidence as a pitcher knowing that I had the stuff to get people out."
