Richmond Chuckers Bantam AAA Fall Ball

Once again we will be offering a Fall Ball program for graduating Pee Wee AAA (or potentially AA) players and players who have just completed their first Bantam AA season (players are grade 8 & 9), that are interested in playing Bantam AA or AAA in Richmond in 2017.

Fall Ball will consist of exhibition games, intersqaud games, instructional practices, and tournament play.  Games and practices will be held primarily on weekends, with a few weekday afternoon/evenings as well.

This fall we welcome Shawn Hetherington and Jack Thompson to the coaching staff.  Both Shawn and Jack are former college and pro players who now run 5 Tool Baseball (www.5tool.ca) at the Ballyard at Sport Central.  They are familiar with many RCBA players and others in the lower mainland and will bring their considerable experience and passion to the program.  Also joining the staff is Steve Hepburn, who's been coaching our Pee Wee AAA team for the past two seasons and returning to fall ball once again is 2016 Bantam AA coach, Jason Eng.

Fall Ball has become a critical component in our developmental timeline and essentially serves as the beginning of "next season".  Our 2016 Fall Ball program is an important precursor to the 2017 baseball season.  It not only helps us identify potential players for the following season's AAA roster, but also the RCBA Bantam AA team as well.

  • For prospective players and families, the short-season fall ball schedule serves as an introduction to our coaches, philosophy and our program.  It also provides a taste of higher levels of play for many of the participants.

  • For our returning players, it serves as the transition point from first-year players to second-year players.  It is time for them to step into greater leadership roles, to assume more responsibility on the field and to set the tone for the next calendar year.

  • For the coaches, it allows us to get to know prospective players, and to see them at practice, and in game situations.  This provides a much more thorough opportunity to better evaluate potential players for the upcoming season.

PLEASE NOTE:

Our fall program is an extension of our Bantam AAA program, and as such, it is not for everybody.  It is geared for higher levels of play that require more developed skill sets, athleticism, physicality, discipline and commitment.

It is the next step for players coming up from Pee Wee AAA (possibly AA as well), for those who've just completed their first year of Bantam AA or AAA, and potentially for other players who excelled elsewhere as first-years.

This program is for ballplayers who are considering our Bantam AAA Richmond Chuckers team for their 2017 season.

We know that the fall is a busy time with school and other sports, and we are accommodating in terms of players who are involved in other sports. A 100% commitment to baseball is not required.  With that in mind, if you're considering our program for the 2017 season, we highly recommend you participate in at least some of our fall ball program

Bantam AAA Chuckers Fall Ball willl begin Sunday, September 4, and will extend into mid-October.   We will play exhibition games and participate in at least one tournament, possibly two.  Travel to the interior or Washington is a possibility.

Our home facility is Blundell Fields, on Blundell Road, between Gilbert and #2, with two full sized diamonds and a new indoor, turfed, full-sized, two lane batting cage.
