Pirates win a pair in Wednesday Night Double Header

The Pirates travelled to Pilot Butte on Wednesday to play a double header under the lights against the Broncos. In the first game the team benefited from another solid performance by Wyatt Mohr, who pitched all four innings in the victory for the Pirates, striking out 9 and allowing a single earned run. At the plate, Ben Klein, Logen Hammett, Mathew Schoepp and Jackson Smith all picked up a pair of hits, with Hammett driving in 4 runs and Smith 5. In game 2, Owen Minchuk was on the mound and pitched 4 2/3 strong innings, striking out 9 and did not allow an earned run. Ben Klein and Minchuk each had 3 hits in the game, and Jackson Smith hit his 2nd homer of the year and drove in a pair. Klein also racked up 4 stolen bases on the day. The two victories leave the Pirates with an 8-0-1 record and in first place.
