Pirates beat the Beavers to remain undefeated
Posted May 18, 2016

The Weyburn Beavers were in town to face the hometown Pirates on May 17. It was the Pirates first home game of the season and they were looking to remain undefeated. The team did not look good early. Their bats were silent and their fielding was sloppy, resulting in the home side digging themselves into a hole and trailing 6-1 after 4 1/2 innings. In the bottom of the 5th the bats woke up and the Pirates scored 7 runs and jumped out to an 8-6 lead. Wyatt Mohr came in in the top of 6 and shut down the Beavers, fanning six straight to earn the save as the Pirates won the game 10-6. Ben Klein started the game for the Pirates and pitched a solid 2 innings, striking out 4. Owen Minchuk came into the game in the third and didn't allow an earned run, while fanning 7 over three innings. At the plate Klein led the way, going 3/3 with two doubles and a couple of RBIs.
