Pirates use the long ball to trounce the Beavers

The Pirates made their second road trip of the year with a Friday night game in Weyburn against the home town Beavers. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead, when Mathew Schoepp led off the game with a solo home run. That was the first of three home runs in the inning as Logen Hammett and Owen Minchuk also homered and the visting side took a 5-0 lead after just a half inning. The Pirates exploded again in the third inning when Schoepp hit his second dinger of the game ( a 3 run shot) and Jackson Smith ended the inning with a grand slam. In total, the Pirates scored 10 runs in the inning and took a big 17-2 lead. The team then plated 5 in the 4th and 3 in the 5th as they coasted to 24-4 victory. Logen Hammett, Blake Heward and Austin Reid-Brezinski combined for the victory, spreading out 4 hits over 5 innings. Mathew Schoepp was the offensive star, going 4/4 with a walk, three home runs and 7 RBIs.
