Mohawks Open Semi-Finals With a Win
Posted August 2, 2017
The Border West Baseball League Semi-Final Round began last night, with the Winkler Whips making the short trek West to Morden, and the Cartwright Twins traveling to Pilot Mound. While the Pilots edged the Twins 2-1 in a 10-inning thriller, the Mohawks cruised to a 7-0 victory. Blake Hartry was dominant once again on the mound for the Tribe, working out of a couple jams created by a few defensive mishaps. The Whips ran wild in their first round series against Killarney, stealing bases at will, but Mohawks catcher Ryan Steppler put a hold on that throwing out both runners attempting stolen bases.
The Mohawks will have a chance to advance to the Border West Baseball League Finals on Friday night, as Game 2 goes in Winkler at 6:45pm.
