Hens trio combines to one-hit Rosen

By Byron Higgin, Minneota Mascot Sports Editor

Three Mudhen pitchers one-hit Rosen and the team banged out 12 hits in an 8-0 Memorial Day victory.

Danny Hennen, Henry Pesch and Thomas Fischer combined to allow one hit, a single in the second inning off Hennen.

He also walked two for Rosen's only other baserunners. Hennen fanned five, Pesch three and Fischer two for 10 strikeouts.

"We got great pitching and great defense (the Mudhens didn't have an error)," said Manager Tyson Sonnenburg, who banged out two hits himself.

“It was a fun game and a nice team win," the manager said.

The game started on Memorial Day just a little late due to a shower in Rosen. But once the field was cleared, there were no more interruptions.

In the first inning Jesse Drager hit a long double off the left field fence for a two-run lead.

It went to 3-0 in the third without a hit but  was aided by two Rosen errors.

Then in the fourth, singles by Jordan Beck, Sonnenburg and Adam Durfee plus an error, long sacrifice fly by Hennen and another single by Buysse produced three more runs.

It stayed that way until the ninth when Ryan Koopman singled home Durfee for the 8-0 margin.

Durfee had a pair of hits, as did Sonnenburg and Pesch. Durfee and Sonnenburg scored three times. Rosen's only hit was a single by Nate Nelson in the second inning.

"No one guy stood out. Everyone had a great game. We've learned to rely on each other," said Manager Sonnenburg.

If there was a negative for Minneota, it was stranding 14 runners on base. “That was bad, but we did hit some hard balls that got caught,” said the manager.
